Congrats on your result John, it looks like you had a good day! It's always great to see a Haf getting challenged off-road.

Re: Halinger and Pinzgauer Club UK Events
Well done on that lengthy trip John, certainly more than I would be prepared to do. Although I use mine almost every day for short trips, it's great that folks like yourself are out and about putting the miles in. That must have proven the engine - are you happy overall now with the performance/reli...

Re: Engine won't start and run.
I was going to suggest timing, but glad to read that you got there in the end!
Out of interest - how does this engine compare torque wise to the big-bore engine?
Keep us informed on the source of the oil leaks.
Cheers!

Thanks once again John for all that you do to keep the forum going, I've donated what I can afford. I echo your request for everyone who comes on here to donate something, even if it's just a couple of pounds. Oh - and season's greetings to all - here's to a great 2023!

Re: Zenith carb not idling
Yep, I agree with what John has said, particularly the cleaning of the two idle jets. These can get blocked with fine particles very easily. I found that the petrol hoses were breaking down (maybe to do with E10 fuel) and allowing fine rubber particles in blocking the jets and giving issues similar ...

Re: previous post
Hi Dave - mine used to cut on to one cylinder - when I removed the plug it was 'fouled' and wet with fuel. I've found that once that happens, despite thorough cleaning, the plug is never the same again. More noticeable with NGK plugs. I cured my fouling issue by installing a 'hotter' range of plug a...

Re: New rice tires for the Haflinger
Good video, I enjoyed it! I like to see the vehicles getting used - hope you got the tractor out OK. When the ground is that wet and soft pretty much any wheeled vehicle is going to struggle; I fitted 8" wide Quad tyres on widened rims for that kind of going but they don't always work! https://...

Good luck with the transplant John, will be following your exploratory check of the big-bore engine with interest.
Touch wood - apart from the minor issue of my timing going out recently, I've been fairly trouble-free.
Cheers!

Re: Hafling Treffen
Yes, that was a great video, well produced. It does look like a very well organised, professional event - fantastic scenery, good weather and lots of driving. Everyone seems enthusiastic and most importantly - having fun! Nice to see such a varied selection of vehicles and how the owners have modifi...

Re: The 'Off-Road' picture thread
Today was my first trial since Covid; our local 4WDC club was on the brink of falling apart, so it was nice to see a turnout of about 25 vehicles. Per usual there were eight sections, all varied, a couple of deep water ones, one of which I avoided completely as I was sure that the Haflinger would ha...

Re: Hafling Treffen
Well done Julian for making the effort to get there, as you say it's quite a commitment to travel that far. It's great that there is such enthusiasm for these vehicles that the organisers arrange such an event; it can't be an easy task. These kind of events will help ensure that the Haflinger will c...

Re: Electronic ignition options?
Thanks for the info Garry - now that I've got it running fine again I've decided to stick with the points set-up. I fixed a small bracket on to the points base plate with a piece of thick felt soaked in oil, that just contacts the rotor - hopefully that will keep it lubricated and slow the wear on t...

Re: Electronic ignition options?
I'm aligned with your thinking John; I'd be happy to stick with the points if I had more confidence that the contact heel wasn't so prone to wearing. I'm used to seeing a thick piece of felt with lube in it contacting the rotor - mine doesn't have that. You've got points - does your distributor plat...
