Re: For Sale: Polycab & Internal fittings (Cab ONLY)

Hi Nathan -

I am more than happy to post items to South Africa - bar the cab itself ! - were there any specific individual items you require ?

Best wishes
Paul

Re: Two Vredestein 135 x 13 Snow Tyres . . .

I get your point there John. I have a full set of 155 x 13 mud & snow tyres on Fiat rims for mine ! When I received the 135's I thought they were great as they maintained the "skinny stance" and wouldn't project beyond the body sides. Trying to abbreviate garage stuff at the moment ! B...

Two Vredestein 135 x 13 Snow Tyres . . .

As above, an unused pair of Vredestein Snowstar S80 tyres : 135 x 13.
Unfortunately I only have two, but they'd be great on a Haf for winter hooning . . .
Price ? : £40 incl. UK postage
Drop me a message if interested -
Cheers

Re: Considering Selling Up . . . . Mk1 SWB

Ahem - apologies from Bakewell, UK. Where the puddings are made . . . . Thanks for the replies so far - If I were to sell I'd rather someone who is genuinely interested having a crack at it. I'll have to have a good look at everything I do have to see what may be missing for a complete car. I still ...

Considering Selling Up . . . . Mk1 SWB

Good morning chaps - I'm considering selling my Haflinger "et al" and welcome suggestions as to perhaps the best course of action ? I bought it as a buggy a few years ago - a Mk1 SWB 4 speed. I got it running, which it did very well and then decided to try to get it back to original. I obt...

Platform detail pics required . . .

Hi all - My platform may be going away soon for repair at a fabrication company. It has had some repairs in the past prior to me buying it including new side sections from the rear to the (rear of the) front seat section. Whilst these has been fitted satisfactorily, others repairs are not brilliant ...

Re: Cleaning alloy components

I too have tried the brush, Gunk and elbow grease method
It never gets the finish I'd like, though ?
I've wondered recently about the potential merits of a small domestic steam cleaner - what are people's thoughts on that ?

Re: Removing Rear Swing Axles

Hello - This is where mine is up to at the moment . . . I had a lot of play in the pins, so I have decided to install new ones. Just to re-iterate Constantin's comments above, go easy when knocking off the side cover. A little at a time using a hardwood block worked for me with no damage. I was surp...

Re: Axle Check Straps - Alternatives ?

Thanks, Chaps - all interesting replies !

I like the idea of the canvass style straps - perhaps more in keeping than the Mad Max bike chain !

As I said, mine has nothing to start with . .

Cheers

Axle Check Straps - Alternatives ?

Hi all - As per the title - anybody have any suggestions for alternatives to the standard braided check straps ? My project has nothing at the moment, so I'm curious to see what other people have ? Perhaps a "fabric" ?, or "wire rope" ? or chain even . . . Pic would be great ! Th...

Re: Battery boxes - Different types ?

Crikey ! - Thanks Jim, plenty to go at there . . .
I'm starting from "scratch" with my 700 body. I have a good platform and have acquired a battery box in poor condition for repair. I guess I'll have to see if the two marry up.

Thanks again -

Battery boxes - Different types ?

Hello -

Are all battery boxes the same, or were there different types between S1 & S2 or SWB & LWB ? I suspect not, but just asking !

Re: Haflingers at War

Hi Garry - It must have been on a rare occasion I was paying attention ! The programme was very interesting and as I remember focussed on the Army Bomb Disposal. I'll have to watch it all again for details, but maybe the Royal Ordnance Corps were involved ? Also, it's interesting as Constantin sugge...

Re: Haflingers at War

Hello all - Just to add another dimension to this thread, the BBC last year showed a documentary about bomb disposal in the 70's and 80's by the British Army (sadly predominantly in Northern Ireland). In some of the footage/images shown, a Hafi can be seen in the background . . . Not sure who was re...
