Re: Sloooow Starter
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a deep cycle battery meant for running peripherals (fridges etc) not necessarily for high current cranking. I believe a normal battery is better for powering starters. Perhaps try hooking up a normal battery and see if that makes a difference. Sent from my LG-H870D...

Re: Brake Master Cylinder - Fluid Inlet
Hi all, I am having a similar problem with my brake master, not weeping but pouring fluid out from between the master cyclinder and the rubber grommet! I bought the replacement non-original master cylinder from Haflinger Technik and the rubber grommet as my Haflinger came without a master cylinder a...

Re: Engine Died
Hi Garry,
Wow!!.. That is quite a mistake for a "reputable" engine builder! Can you not get them to rectify their mistake?
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Subaru Engine transplant
Hi John, Yes it seems to be a very neatly done conversion. I'm afraid I don't know what Subaru it comes from but i understand it is a 1300cc! (2 Haffy engines glued together? ;-) ) Doesn't seem to have a huge amount of power, but could be because I haven't managed to find a mechanic that can tune th...

Re: Kenyan Haflingers
Hi John, The photo of the Subaru powered Haffy (need to come up with a clever name!) was taken by the previous owner and was the photo he advertised it with. I think it has the appearance of having heavy duty springs in that photo because he had jacked it up to see if he could fix the brakes, which ...

Subaru Engine transplant
Hi Paul, We need some pictures of your engine transplant one - new thread for that! John Hi John, So had an unexpected trip down to the beach house to check on some construction. Managed to remember to take some pics for you. So here they are attached. Let me know if you have any questions. Bearing...

Kenyan Haflingers
Hi all! As a new member, I've done things slightly backwards and have done a few posts recently without first introducing myself. I live in Kenya and have 2 Pinzgauer 6x6 fire engines in service as emergency response vehicles. Recognising our Pinzgauer as the Haflinger's younger brother, I was appro...

Gearbox issues (3rd gear popping out and no syncro in 2nd)
Popping out of gear is a symptom of worn out shaft bearings. The trans will have to come apart. Start a thread in drivetrain/transmission section. Follow my signature link to photobucket, look in Haflinger albums and you will see what it takes and what it looks like. BTW, 4 speed transmissions are ...

Re: What specific pictures/ procedures would group like to s
Hi Paul, As far as your Brakes go, there really shouldn't be too much that can be wrong. Leaks are most likely and might be sorted by replacing the piston seals, but as it is difficult to know which size / make of seal to go for... it would probably be easier to replace the whole wheel cylinder(s)....

Re: What specific pictures/ procedures would group like to s
Hi Jim, The more info you post on this forum the better for me! I live in Kenya with limited local and personal mechanical experience, so I heavily rely on this forum and the internet in general for repair info. The one that really worries me is the gearbox. One of my Haflingers seems to have 2 issu...

haflinger Wheels and Tyres on ebay UK
Some great looking wheels and tyres just went up on ebay UK. I would have definitely snapped these up if I didn't live in Kenya! Shipping, customs duty etc. would be a killer! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... SS:GB:3160
