Re: Engine bay wiring and parts

I'll see if I can dig up my old notes, but are you trying to figure out what the components shown in the pics are? Or are you looking for a listing of all the parts?

Re: Leaking Hub flange seal

This is probably something I'll have to do next year. I have the leak also, but I was leaning towards a complete front end rebuild. I'll see how it looks once I get into it, haf is put away for winter.

Re: The forum is not free to run BUT you access it for free!

Thank you for the reminder, John.

Donation sent, and a good reminder that I need to drag the haffy out and work on the driver side hub, see what's leaking. Pretty sure I've lost a bearing.

Re: OK, this request has zero to do with Haffies...but....

Garry - yep, that's the one. John - yes, correct. It looks like there might be a route for the requester to contact the Eaton Films folk directly, and possibly sort this out. I'm waiting for a response from the son. If the direct route is successful, that would be wonderful. We shall see! I'll updat...

OK, this request has zero to do with Haffies...but....

it's worth a try. Guy I know over here in the U.S. is trying to find a DVD copy of The Sullivans, Series 1, Vol 3. The reason he's trying to find it is to help his 73 year old father find that one show that he never did see, the one that finished some story line or other. Been around fifty years, an...

Howdy John, kicked in a bit more.

It's winter here, the haffy is sleeping in the garage. Not much going on with her, but if I do take her out for a run I'll try to take some video and pics. At least there's no mud to deal with now!

Looking for one rear seat bottom cushion for a Swiss 700AP..

Or, alternately, a rear seat bottom cushion that'll fit, anything will be better than nothing.

Any condition also - if it's truly horrible I can use it for a pattern.

Re: Bosch parts lists for Haflinger

What part are you looking for? Bosch probably don't list everything they have ever made once the demand for it drops below a certain level. That doesn't mean they don't sell it, just that they don't list it. John Right now I'm just looking at the stock numbers for the tail light bulbs, having a hec...

Wow...so there actually is at least one that made it in and got badged.

I'll bet the Crofton club in San Diego would be interested to hear about it.

Re: Bushfire Smoke - Not safe to drive.

Hi Garry I really need to fab up some doors first, before getting into heat. Then again, it might be worthwhile to install an alternator and get some more wattage going, then I could just do heated snow machine suits, which would largely solve the issue. However I think I'm going to move towards fab...

Re: Bushfire Smoke - Not safe to drive.

Yikes, having moved recently from Southern California, I can sympathize with that pic and the conditions. We used to run a few HEPA air filters inside, and they helped interior air quality quite a bit. Had to change the filters regularly though. I remember reading something in one of my old fire sci...

Re: Do VW Type 1 plug wire air seals work for the Haf?

Interesting info Garry. I might do an experiment, I've managed to find some of the flaps on eBay and they're coming in shortly. I'll run with and without them and do a few IR readings for comparisons. If it does manage to be something like a 25 degree difference, I think I'd run them anyway, a bit m...

Re: Do VW Type 1 plug wire air seals work for the Haf?

Hi Garry These little guys... Basically a rubber gasket that's flexible and fits over the hole in the tinwork that the spark plug fits through. They seal the hole, preventing air loss. Somewhere I'm pretty sure I've seen figures on some VW page regarding the difference between running the gaskets or...

Do VW Type 1 plug wire air seals work for the Haf?

Hopefully they do...mine are rotted out and swinging free, time to source replacements. If anyone has a good source for them I'd like to hear about it. Also if anyone has found some that actually last a while, instead of oxidizing and breaking apart within a year. Silicone would be nice, betcha thos...

or if anyone knows of a stash of just the end connectors, that'd be fine also.

Yes, I want to start rebuilding them again and make a few replacements to have on hand.

Re: Cold weather mods?

Hey Gang, Here is some technical advice on the mesh on the rear engine cover. Travel here to Australia, purchase an ironing board, you know those contraptions that you unfold and it stands up to form a platform to rest your clothes on while you iron them, pull the thing apart and you will find in t...
