Re: Strange front head howl on the road
Thank you for the info. Not what i was hoping to hear, but understood. I have not removed, nor cleaned/lubed the CV Joints. Looks like that will be first. Will i have a chance to visually see bearing issues in the CV? Feel for a click like i would in a conventional CV? Spring removal - special tool ...

Strange front head howl on the road
Hello all, I have a couple of ex military haffies, and the better of the two started a front end howl that varies with the speed of rotation. It comes and goes, and goes up and down in pitch like the sound of an out of balance drive axle. I noticed the sound goes away if i pull it into 4wd. Turning ...

Re: Tie Rod ends - joints
The link I posted did not work. I too, received a one joint which was angled, and the rod was two inches too long. I recently replaced the tie rods, which came with two tie rods which were not used (the bar). I chopped two inches off the center and welded together. All is good. I'll replace the angl...

Re: Replacement steering and tie rod ends?
So they worked well for tie rods. I'll need a custom solution for steering linkage

Replacement steering and tie rod ends?
Jim mentioned pre 78 mercedes sedan are a direct replacement. Is this the correct set? http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-W116-W126-TIE-ROD-RODS-126-330-06-03-126-330-05-03-LEFT-RIGHT-SET-2-/120685568361?fits=Year%3A1978%7CMake%3AMercedes-Benz&hash=item1c196ba169:m:mAwc7KREAzuXXyicFiin9Dg&vxp=...

Mark - How tall are you? I have a set of seats like that, but im already too tall at 6' for the stock seats. I also love the top setup you created!

Re: Trouble mounting atv tires onto stock rims
I cannot get these tires to seat on the rim, even after soapy oceans of water and industrial compressors through a non valve stemmed hole. Even tried the 2" ratchet strap around the circumference and warming them up.
Any issue to running tubes?

Trouble mounting atv tires onto stock rims
Are you using tubes under your new tires on stock rims? I cannot get the inner portion to expand and seat

Re: Alternative seat webbing
i moved the remaining elastic straps to the back support and tossed two foam seat pads under the seat. They work perfect. Picked them up from Walmart for $6 total. The shape of foam, plus the indentation of the sheet metal under the seat provides perfect support at the thigh and butt. :D http://asse...

Re: Weber carb, weird slight throttle response after clean
Im curious... What is the exposed jet on the top of the carb? The one that points straight up through the center? Why is it exposed? It doesnt seem adjustable

very cool. The alternator mounting/sourcing is something easily tackled. I'm curious about that nut and pulley. Are the pulleys easily sourced?

Re: Weber carb, weird slight throttle response after clean
Guys, double checking because it sounds like youre referencing the zenith carb, not the Weber. I did not see idle mixture adjustment at the base, and the cover that popped off the side contained a pivot point for the accelerator pump, not the Jets. Best I can tell, jets are internally accessible on ...

Re: Weber carb, weird slight throttle response after clean
Sounds like I need to take it off. What's the trick to getting at the bolt on the back? I can use a 1/2" crows foot for the front, not so easy to access the rear bolt.

Weber carb, weird slight throttle response after clean
So I popped the top off of my Weber carb to try to investigate a low power and pop scenario. I simply unscrewed the Jets in the top center and base of the bowl for a quick shot of air. Beyond some debris in the base, nothing looked blocked. The accelerator pump spring shot the little dime sized cap ...
