Re: Halinger and Pinzgauer Club UK Events
Glad you enjoyed the weekend at Dersingham Nigel, it's a nice site with something for everyone. Glad you managed to have the appropriate spare available and were able to fix the issue. Nother worse that arrive some where, breaking down and not being able to take part and tehn just having to go home....

Re: Hemi the Haff.
Did you take pictures of them before you took them off, just after you took them off and noted which position they came from? The odd one must have had the hub mounting end attacked if it is in fact odd! Muct admit I haven't looked at mine in that detail. As you say, why are they in "cups"...

Have you looked in the parts book to see if the picture of it there is any good for you to base your "repair" on?

Well done for managing to translate it
Hopefully you have on in a digital form so it could be printed for people in need. Please make sure you credit the original source producers, nothing worse than having your interlectual hard work used by someone else with no credit.

Re: Hemi the Haff.
I have had split boots on Lurch for the past 7 plus years and they haven't leaked. I think it depends on whether you get good quality plastic or not. THe parts book even has a little diagram showing you how you are supposed to fit them - split under the arm pointing towards the front of the vehicle....

Re: diffferential output flange preload?
Well done on finding the issue!
Maybe take it to a machine shop and get them to put it in a big lathe and use that to re-make the groove. Unless of course you happen to have a lathe big enough to fit the diff sleeve in!

Re: Hole in the Dynastart Stator - Belt Tension.
Sorry to disillusion you Gary, There it no hole in the syator of the Dynastart. The hole in the fan allows you to put a rod through it which then catches on the rib which is verticle on the front plate of the Dynastart. This means tha when you have the hole in the fan blade to the right of top dead ...

Re: Head/Rocker Cover Oil Return Seals.
I can only make an assumption - no knowledge, but presumably the brown ones are a slightly harder / higher temperature plastic than the white ones as they get "squished" down tighter when you torque down the heads, whereas the white ones on the oil returns are only being "squished&quo...

Re: Hemi the Haff.
Well, other than not looking very good, if it is oil tight, then it would still be serviceable. No one is going to see it but you unless you keep taking the top cover off when ever you go to a show or something!!! Bad luck that it fell off your lift, I presume you have checked for other damage? Remo...

Re: diffferential output flange preload?
According to the parts book, the shim starts at 1mm and goes up in 0.05 steps all the way to 2mm. The sliding sleve should come out and allow you to remove ALL the internals right down to two little cog which are at 90 degrees to the bigger cogs on the end of the sleeves. (the sleeves come into the ...

Re: diffferential output flange preload?
I think I had the same thing on the rear diff in one of my rear diff / gear box units. That was down to an OVAL diff lock sleeve. I didn't cure that issue, because I just used another diff internals set. Have you tried putting the diff unit into a bucket of vinagar or Coke a Cola to remove the rust?...

Re: Right rear radius rod bushing hack
I must of been asleep when I looked at your post!! The radius arms are held in place using threaded studs so that you can take a nut off and slide the stud out in the other direction. Makes it "easy", unlike the swing arm pivot pins! They are worse to take out and are based on a "flat...

Re: Rebuild your starter solenoid when it goes wrong
Hi Dave, It is not actually that difficult, but you do need a high power soldering iron. If you can find an old fashoned "heat in a fire" lump of copper type iron you will have enough heat to melt the solder all the way through the "eye" that small wires form the coil go through....

Re: Right rear radius rod bushing hack
Your picture is a little dark to see exactly what you are doing. Did you manage to change the bushings with dismanatling the backbone tube using your "special" tools?
Did you check that everyting was square again afterwards? Or do you have a "crab" Haflinger now?
