Re: New Australian.

Nice that the Series 1 has a PTO drive (as evidenced by the cover in the load bay) - something that I would love to have.

Re: Spare tire bracket?

as this is an early MKI, it has no space being a SWB to fit the spare in the left side. That is occupied by a storage box, jerry can, and battery box. Coming in to this late so I may have missed something, but my early Mk1 (/pre-Series) is a 1962 SWB and the spare is under the LHS rear footwell. Wh...

Re: hoods & doors

I had a new short canvas cab & my doors reskinned by www.allwheeltrim.co.uk several years ago, and although not cheap, I remain super impressed.

There is also a maker of new hoods etc in Austria, but I can't remember their name.

Honda Vamos

Came across this machine recently - I had never heard of it before but it does have some similarities to Haflingers ;)

Re: Another UK e-bay Haf for sale

I too am surprised at the asking price; with next to no rear body & plenty of "improvements" (I love the fuel tank).

A tipping load bed would be great to have, but I would have hinged it at the rear ...

Re: Where do you park your Haflinger

You would be forgiven for not believing me, but inside one of these Carcoon "tents" is my Haflinger - with my Citroën in the other. Makes extracting them harder than it might be, but certainly keeps them clean 'n cozy!

Cotswolds Treffen (UK)

Just returned from a very enjoyable weekend in the picturesque Cotswolds. An impressive turn out - 9 Haflingers and 5 Pinzgauers & one Defender. Some good weather, great company and some enjoyable driving & pit stops. It was my first UK Treffen, and if this is what I have been missing I look...

Re: Hafling Treffen

The white sausage was actually "OK" - I did try it but can't say I finished it. It is evidently a regional dish and the others loved it. The Pretzels were lovely, covered in salt, and (I think) a sort of satay sauce? Can't remember. The cheese and saucissons at the start by the obstacle co...

Re: Hafling Treffen

There was one other UK Haf in attendance, and a Dutch one (with a Dutch driver & British co-pilot). Not being able to speak German was at first a bit of a pain, but there is always someone around who speaks sufficient English (including the organisers). Even the fire crew (who acted as Marshalls...
