Re: New to Forum - New to Haflingers
Most of the running gear is also done. New bearings all round, new brakes, powder coated springs, new shocks and limiters. So hopefully will be on the road for the Pickering meet up later in the year?

As promised a long time ago here is a video showing the fitting of the "pesky" top springs
I hope it helps someone

Road Springs
Having had the Haflinger in bits for over a year I have now found that the front and rear springs are different!
I should have made note when I took it apart.
Is there a way of telling which are front and which are rear?
Two are 3/4 of an inch longer.

Re: Putting in those pesky top springs behind the brake shoe
Thank you for this post, without it I would have been fiddling around for hours.
It actually took just a few seconds to put the springs in place!
Next time (I have only done one wheel so far!) I will video it.
Keep the tips coming.

Re: Front wheel drive selector
Just to update on the above. The above would have been SO much easier to dismantle if I had realised the machine screw / bolt I was trying to unscrew was I fact a cotter pin that just needed a firm tap to pop out! It even states Cotter on the parts list, Doh,,,,, Anyway nothing damaged that wasn't a...

Rear Hub Race
Hi all, i am in the process of rebuilding the rear hubs and have been provided with the race and o ring for the hub. I have replaced all the other bearings and seals. Any suggestions as to how you take the old on off? I have put a picture of the hub and the new parts for clarification. Many thanks f...

Re: Front wheel drive selector
John, The photos are in the original perspective (maybe a little large in terms of MB), I think they look odd because the fork selector on the shaft has been bent and is also not now central. The little shaft does move freely but it is the machine screw holding the fork onto the shaft that is solid....

Re: Front wheel drive selector
Hi John, The only shaft that is snapped is the small one that goes through the selector fork to engage FWD, it has sheared flush with the housing. All the main shafts are intact thankfully. I will post a photo of the main shaft tomorrow to get a little advice on whether the damage warrants a replace...

Front wheel drive selector
Hi all, thanks for all the great information and help already posted. On stripping down my project I found the Front wheel drive selector shaft was broken. Today I finally got into the section of the prop shaft housing where the FWD selector is located. Now I am in I can see the fork has slipped at ...

Re: What's the weakest point of a Haflinger?
Not sure I can contibute much to this thread as only a few months into my first Haf restoration and have never driven one or even heard one running yet! In taking it to bits I have to agree that rust is my biggest issue so far. I have no reason to believe that my engine won't work when I get round t...

Re: REMOVAL OF STEERING ARM
Thanks John,
Seems to have a pretty good grip and under a lot of tension.
I have tried heat from a blowtourch as well and at the same time as the puller.
I like the idea of the tabs, I do have a welder so will give that a go if I don't see a breakthrough!

REMOVAL OF STEERING ARM
I have been trying to remove the small arm on the bottom of the steering shaft without any luck.
Has anyone found a particular method or tool of the this job that works well?
I am currently using a large (but cheap) hub puller.

New to Forum - New to Haflingers
Hi all, last month I aquired my very first Haflinger. Being a closet fan for a while I finally took the step of getting a restoration project (see below) with the intention of involving my 12 year old twin boys. My garage seems to have shrunk since I rebuilt and sprayed a VW Camper in it!
