Re: weber PM 24

I have a German 1961 parts manual - its all German. Dont know how to get it to you as it is 60mb - too big to put here, too big to PM you, too big to SMS you and too big to email you.

Any other ideas??

Re: Hole in the Dynastart Stator - Belt Tension.

Ok - thanks John - the torque on the nut does not need to be extra high as shape of the shaft keeps the pulleys tight - as long as the torque is enough to keep the fan from flogging out it will be fine. I used my rattle gun to tighten it up so it will torqued up enough.

Cheers

Hole in the Dynastart Stator - Belt Tension.

I just adjusted the tension on my drive/fan belts. This is the second time I have done it. Both times the hole in the fan rotor is obvious but I have not been able to find the hole in the stator that you put the rod into to hold the fan. Fortunately the bolt that hold the fan does not need to be on ...

Re: Head/Rocker Cover Oil Return Seals.

Yes quite possibly so - I have ordered some from Bernard here is Australia and he says the brown ones and the white ones are the same but the brown ones are made from silicon. On refilling the engine with oil I have now gone from 20w40 to 20w50 engine oil so I will see how that goes. As all my other...

Head/Rocker Cover Oil Return Seals.

The service is continuing on the Haflinger. Today was adjust tappets, replace spark plugs, refill with oil and start. As usual I had trouble getting the rocker (tappet) cover on the passenger side of the engine back on and split the white oil seal that goes on the crankcase end of the pipe that take...

Re: Hemi the Haff.

The front pivot pins are easy remove, it is the rears that are a pain with the body on - but should be OK with it off. To put original boots or split boots on is a good question. The originals with good rubber would probably last many years without issue, but modern cheap repro parts - not so sure. ...

Re: diffferential output flange preload?

I am afraid I cannot help much but I did pull my front diff off the tube about 9 years ago to replace some noisy bearings. I cannot remember much except it was easy to do and everything seemed quite logical - i had it completely apart - so I suspect you have some issues there. Some pics. 2014-10-26_...

Front Diff Breather

Heading out on a day trip with the local Land Rover Club in a couple of weeks so in preparation, it is an opportunity to do a service before I go. Lubricants, adjust brakes, oil/air filter, tappets and timing. So the front is jacked up and I removed both front hubs oil - completely clean and as new....

Re: Bed, Ute, Rhino Liner

Thanks for that information - looks like it will keep the rust at bay as long as it is cleaned up first - did you paint it straight onto the metal or over undercoat/paint that was already there?

Cheers

Bed, Ute, Rhino Liner

As my car is kept outside under the back balcony, the tray is starting to suffer some surface rust and the floor inside the cabin is suffering a bit of wear and tear. Both need a bit of a touch up. Here, in the land of the ute, rather than installing a plastic bed tray to protect the rear of the veh...

Re: Fan Belts and Tappet Clearances

Thanks for that John - just gotta do some servicing before a couple of 100km trips. I put new fan belts on a while back and they were nice and tight but over time have loosened off a little and slip a bit on wet weather starts.

Fan Belts and Tappet Clearances

I don't have access to my Haflinger documents at the moment.

Can someone please tell me:

1. Which way the big bolt on the fan pulleys turns - right handed thread or left handed thread.

2. The cold clearance gap for the tappets.

3. Spark plug gap.

Thanks

Re: Setting up choke disc on Zenith carburettor

This carb has plastic floats that are made in two halves that are glued together - they can become partially separated allowing them to sink and change the mixture because unregulated fuel passes into the engine. I had this happen to me after a professional carb build where the carb cleaning fluid d...
