Re: Replacement Wiper Blades - Australia

Hi Gary, try early Landrover one's - You might have to buy the arms as well, but that mean you have access to current parts, rather than struggling to find obsolete items.

Re: some new things...

Only really good for in gear acceleration as the gear change is very slow, so not going to make a huge difference in standing start acceleration other than to point out that the gear changing takes more time then it spends in the lower gears! If the correct size turbo is choosen, I am sure it would ...

Re: some new things...

There are a couple of Haflingers with Turbo's in Europe. What can a Turbo bring to a Haflinger? It won't increase the top speed without the engine exceeding it's designed max RPM. It will probably make it more thirsty than it already is, average on a long road run is about 30mpg (UK) Increase in pow...

Re: Polly Rebuild

Oil in the torque tube is the same as the wheel hubs and gearbox / Differentials. About .5 litre. Just remember that there are 4 different torque tubes so measure yours to decide if you have the right one for your particular Haf. (Short wheel base, 4 speed box. Long wheel base, 4 speed box. Short wh...

Re: some new things...

Just remember that rubbish getting into the fuel tank settles to the bottom. The fuel pickup pipe is in the lowest part of the fuel tank. It does pick up rubbish from that pont and suck it down the pipe to the fuel pump, so a filter between the fuel tank and the pump is essential. There were 3 diffe...

Re: some new things...

Well done on finding an issue which appears to have solved your issues. A blocked air filter would make the mixture rich which in turn would make a mixtur that would wash the bores. This can lead to wear on the rings and bore and therefore increased oil consumption. Also could mean greater crankcase...

Re: Polly Rebuild

Hi Gren_t, Unfortunately not! It is a fill only plug. Another of the strange design quirks of a Haflinger designers mind! Once installed, yo have to use a suction pump to try and remove part of the old oil you ave put in if you have a LWB Haflinger as there is bearing half way down the tube which ef...

Re: Halinger and Pinzgauer Club UK Events

Sorry to disappoint you Gary, not 370 mile out of a tank. I filled the tank up 3 times during the weekend so as not risk running the fuel down to the bottom. So we are taliking about 140 miles or so and then a stop, fill up with fuel, fill up with food and drink, empty the body before carrying on. T...

Re: Another UK e-bay Haf for sale

You would have to be very careful about what you put in the bed as well, looking at that air filter - Can just see a nice load of builders sand to take up to my "mountain retreat" and it pouring down and into the engine bay and filling that air filter! Still, if it's running and everything...

Re: Halinger and Pinzgauer Club UK Events

I managed to put a few miles on Lurch using the original rebuilt engine. Did an oil change, topped up Diff oils, hub levels, grease points all on the Friday morning. Packed the camping gear in the back. Set off for Dersingham at about 10:30am. Driving along A and B roads, in to London to cross the T...

Re: Where do you park your Haflinger

I do tidy up after such a day - changing an engine over means things have to come out, but hopefully most go back in! Most of the neighbours moved in long after we were here, so they saw the old vehicles outside before they bought, so must have accepted that's how things are! Anyway, we are very goo...

Nope! Everybody struggles with them. Rubber and a bump on the shaft to hold them engaged.... As you say, they are done that way "just because we can"! Did you replace the ring the seal runs on in the front hubs when you replaced the seals? If not, then expect them to start leaking again af...
