Gidday all,
Has anyone made a copy of a Haffie fuel tank for their vehicle, rather than try and locate and buy one?
Regards Rick.

Re: Front Winch.
Hey Vampyr, I am going to do the same with a winch onto the front of mine when I get to that stage of the rebuild. I have been looking at winches and can't believe the choice that is out there, small, compact with huge pulling power. and at good prices. Some reinforcing in the mounting area and a se...

Re: Hafi trailer
Gidday, Seeing the recent photos of a haffie on a trailer, I must admit that the excuse I used to get a Haffie was to have a vehicle that we can tow, on a trailer, behind the motor home, we have recently bought. Thought about a smart car, bikes, push bikes etc etc but the Haffie won out. I will buil...

Steering box overhaul.
Gidday all, Have just finished overhauling the steering box and the pedal box on my Haffie which resulted in a successful job. Had some drama splitting the two components as the output shaft from the steering box was seized in the long housing of the pedal box. A couple of days with the hydraulic pr...

Re: Speedometer - how to remove the front bezel & glass?
All I did was sat the gauge on its face and with a small bladed screw driver edge the back of the bezel away from the gauge body moving a few mm at a time around the bezel, I never moved it to much as you can crink the bevel which may show up when you are finished. I had to go around a couple of tim...

Re: How many have survived?
Gidday all, An interesting question from Tinkerer regarding the numbers of live Haffies. There was 1 rolled up in a ball in a house in Darwin after Cyclone Tracey, and I am sure that one went down to the dump as land fill along with the City of Darwin. I know of 2 others that were in Darwin but they...

Re: Engine tin ware
Hey Julian, Jim, Kerry and Stuart, Thanks for your input in regards my not knowing which way is which for the tin ware. I think the problem is solved and I will continue with finishing off the engine tomorrow. I have found a number of photos of the rear of Haffie engines and there seems to be a vari...

Re: Engine tin ware
Hey Julian, In regards to the fitting of my tin ware, you suggested that the tin ware fits between the spacer ring and the bell housing. When I attempt to assemble mine in that order I can't get the large piece of tin to screw up to the shrouds that wrap around the back of the cylinders, as it is be...

Engine tin ware
Hey all, I am currently putting my engine back together and am unsure if the tin ware that is full width across the rear of the engine fits between the engine and the spacer ring or between the spacer ring and the bell housing. I have currently got it between the ring and the engine but I need to ma...

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland
Hey Danny, A haffie could do that drive without any worries at all. I have been looking at the photo of Lurch standing in all that white stuff and couldn't work out what it was. Never recognized it as snow. Living in Darwin for 30 years and now QLD, it's not something I have seen for many a year, wh...

Re: New member to the forum from Australia.
Hey Gary, Was on exchange with the US Army once and did we have a good time with drop bears. At their welcoming BBQ's which continued until the day we left, the kids used to look at us a bit with unbelieving looks but the adults believed most of what we said. There was a mention on one of the post a...

Re: Broken pre-heat pipe
Hey John, I posted some comments in regards your manifold repairs as I have been doing the same repairs on mine for the last couple of days, but my post has disappeared somewhere, and hasn't shown up anywhere that I can find on the forum. This morning I hear on the news that a couple of local fisher...

Re: New member to the forum from Australia.
Hey Gary, No not a dangerous type just a python. Not very big but not happy that he had been disturbed. We have some nasty ones here but they generally stay away from people. We have had pythons in the house as it is wide open during the day, and the dog we had used to let us know there was one abou...

Re: New member to the forum from Australia.
Morning all, We have worked out how to upload photos of my Haffie, and they are the previous 4 posts. The only blue we made was they are on separate posts and not on the same one, which I will correct with the next photos. They were taken on the day I got it home and 3 of them before I even got it o...
