Re: Cleaning nuts and bolts on mass
John, What mix did you use with your citric acid? Interested to know as I used it with success for cleaning the inside of the fuel tank and I used to use citric acid based paint strippers with a great deal of success when I lived in Australia. It just didn't seem to lift the paint on the bolts. We u...

Wanted Short Tilt/Bache/Hood call it what you will
Hi,
I am after an unserviceable short tilt that I can use as a pattern. I have a Land Rover Wolf 90 PVC hood that I will use to make a new one. Anyone out there with one?
Cheers
Doug

Re: Cleaning nuts and bolts on mass
Thanks for the replies, I had tried citric acid first (I have gallons and gallons of it as I have a small winery) it works ok on rust but didn't remove any paint. Perhaps the mixture was too weak. Also, if the nuts are dry when they go into the sand all that should be needed is a clean with a soft b...

Cleaning nuts and bolts on mass
I am about to start cleaning the plethora nuts and bolts that I have collected as I have taken the Haf apart. I have been thinking of a way of doing it in bulk and have come up with an idea. However, I am sure there are reasons why it will not work and hopefully this forum will produce some. I have ...

Re: Brake pipe kits on eBay
Hi John, If I remember correctly the pipes come curled and will require straightening and bending, I have a brake piper bender so that should be ok. I'll use the old ones as a pattern. The existing pipes are ok but given the platform (700 swb) is off and access is good it seems to make sense to chan...

Re: Brake pipe kits on eBay
Hi,
I will update as you suggest.
I think we may be talking at odds, the kits I refer to are 11 piece kits from Robert Prokschi.
Cheers

Hi John,
You raise some good points, they do though list kits separately for both 700 and 703.
Thanks
Doug

Brake pipe kits on eBay
Hi all,
I have been seeing complete brake pipe packages for sale on eBay and they seem reasonably priced, and possibly simpler than making up a set. Any one had any experience with them?
Cheers

Re: Removing the gear shift flange from the selector mechani
Hi Constantin,
I had thought about removing the tower but access to one of the securing nuts looks a little tricky, how did you find it?
Did you split the mechanism at the flange afterwards?
Cheers
Doug

Re: Removing the gear shift flange from the selector mechani
Hi Constantin,
Thanks for your response. I suspect there is some electrolysis between the alloy flange and the steel shaft. Did the pin inside the housing come straight out for you or was it a problem?

Re: Removing the gear shift flange from the selector mechani
Hi All, Thanks for the replies. I have removed the long rod (3 foot?) that runs from the gear stick to the flange that connects it to the selector mechanism. This was connected by three bolts to the round flange. The flange sits directly under the rubber boot and in theory is connected to the select...

Removing the gear shift flange from the selector mechanism
Hi all. This is my first posting, having purchased the 1972 700 from my neighbour. I am in the process of rebuilding and i need to replace the rubber boot that covers the entrance to the selector housing. To do this I need to remove the flange in orde to get the new boot on. Problem is it will not b...
