Re: Feeling Grumpy Today - Hub bearing issues
I really havent gotten too far into it. Didnt want to start throwing parts at it. I do have replacement seals. No oring though. I am using 75/90 gear oil in the hubs. Last time I looked, there was no groove on the sealing surface where the seal rides and teh seal was relatively pliable. I dont think...

Re: Feeling Grumpy Today - Hub bearing issues
Ok, did this get successfully resolved? These seals and leaks have been plaguing me too. Park it, leaves a puddle. Run it, no puddle. Run it, puddle. Take everything off and run it on the lift and not a single drop. put it all back together and everything is fine. Months later it leaks again.

Re: Saga is nearing the end!
Thanks! I dont think I am ready for a restoration. Just fix it and make it work. I can post some pics tomorrow. Alas, I am the worst to photo documenting things.

This is a good question. Have you tried shorting the wire for it to earth with the key on to see if the light illuminates?

Re: Im new and have questions..
I can admit I was not fully aware of how these were put together until I apparently needed to manufacture two of them. In this case, I have zero intention of avoiding a split boot. Lol! Also, now that I know the construction, I am well familiar with how this works and split boots would be perfectly ...

Re: Im new and have questions..
I will go take a picture. I did get it sorted this morning. Apparently, somewhere along the way, the bush that goes in the bottom of the shifter where it attaches to the shift rod got lost and the bolt was put back in. I made another bush and shimmed the side with a washer. I now have all gears and ...

Re: Im new and have questions..
Ok, back on subject. Because the nightmare isnt over, lol! Green one is good to go. Yay! Thanks for all the ideas and help! White one. Argh! So, it has the trans and motor from the green one. '63 drivetrain if you will. Im not sure if one should make two threads, or just combine the two issues into ...

Re: Wheel alignment and control arm shims
I see. I just chalked it up to them being old and soft. The lines dont seem to be made of steel like I am used to. Oddly, the other end is sealing. For now anyway. No matter what, at least I know the replacements will likely never need replacing again. Yes, I fitted the 5 speed, hub gears, and highe...

Re: Shocks?
Update on this. These shocks are perfect. Excellent ride! Here is the part number for anyone that may be curious. NOTE: two of them came with the correct tubes where the bolts go through and two did not. Same part number. so you may need to remove the original tubes from your old shocks. Just keep t...

Re: Wheel alignment and control arm shims
Thanks guys. Ja, I am realising that I have gotten myself into a rather obscure niche of normally useless information except for the others that share my plight. Haha! I can see a light at the end of the tunnel though. I drove the green one today. I was bleeding the brakes and couldnt get any fluid ...

Re: Wheel alignment and control arm shims
Thanks for that. Ja, I put it all back together today. I was aware of the handbrake pawl and how that worked. Of course putting it back together, I noticed that one of the adjusters has its dowel broken off and as such, cannot adjust anything. I was pretty tired of taking that damned hub apart, so I...

Fun! Lol!
I suppose I will make sure everything is adjusted properly for the handbrake when I put it back together.

Re: Wheel alignment and control arm shims
Great, thanks guys. Thats exactly what I needed to know. Yes, I didnt expect to need to learn this much, this quickly, but I suppose having more knowledge is better, lol. I think I have the axles down, I know the inner workings of the transmission, fulcrum pins, but not the handbrake yet. Famous las...

Wheel alignment and control arm shims
Hi everyone, ok I did a bad thing and didnt pay attention to the shims when I took out the shocks on my Haffie. I have some shims, but no idea where they go. The drag links that mount to the backbone were not touched where they mount to the backbone. So, the shims I need to deal with are the ones th...

Re: Im new and have questions..
Thanks John. I will start a new thread. I fear I screwed it all up and will need to redo all four corners. Back to control arm related news, the nightmare is not over yet. I am getting closer though. I replaced the left rear today only to find lots of play where the pivot pins are. A little more dig...

Re: Im new and have questions..
hi Kerry, dont worry about it at this point. I think I have it under control. Famous last words, I am sure. These control arms are ridiculous. I cant believe how complicated they made this. Also, should I bump the wheel alignment thread? Ive not touched the drag links on either Haffies, but there we...
