Re: New Haflinger from France
Well done Vincent, I think you have discovered the same thing as a lot of Haflinger owners have discovered over the years. Either you have the time and the resources to work on a Haflinger full time, in which case you can get a restoreation of what ever sort you have planned to happen quickly or, as...

Re: Spare tire bracket?
I hope you get an answer from someone who has one and can take picture measurements for you. As you say, it would be better to copy an original one than to make your own only to find that it looks nothing at all like the original.... Still, I suppose you could make a temporasy one whilst continuing ...

Re: Spare tire bracket?
An engine cover mounting for a spare wheel is probably something you are going ot have to make and I wonder how many would ever have been made. A SWB even with a winch could have the spare wheel under the LHS rear passanger footwell, but as you point out, if it was originally on the engine cover the...

Re: Spare tire bracket?
No space under the platform for it? I don't know anyone who has their spare tyre mounted on the engine cover. Seen a few Hafs with the spare wheel up against the cargo barrier behind the front seats, but most have it under the platform either on the righthand side orthe lefthand side depending on if...

Re: Leaking Hub flange seal
True enough, they are another useful aid to keeping a Haflinger going. They do require some extra work to be fitted correctly. It is possible to get a sharp edge to stand proud from the surface which damages the seal when the shaft is installed. Of course, you should check for such things, but it ca...

Leaking Hub flange seal
Review of a new part being made available to Haflinger owners by HaflingerParts.com aka James Price. I was cleaning the rear brake drums on Lurch (My Haflinger) following a Trials event and discovered that one of them was a bit oily. Checked to see if it was leaking brake wheel cylinder – Nope, not ...

I think the man you were dealing with James Price ([email protected]) has more knowledge about the winches than I, He has rebuilt one in the last couple of years.

Re: New Haflinger from France
Hi Vincent, Getting the winch working does not need to happen soon, you are going to have to take time to find all the missing bits as they are very rare. Brakes are far more important! I would replace at a minimum, the flexible hoses, the brake wheel cylinders, and the brake shoes. You might have t...

Re: New Haflinger from France
Hi Vincent, The platform does not actually look that bad. If the only rust holes are in the front footwell and the winch hatch, then you have quite a good starting pointfor a restoration. Very 1980's rewiring by running all the cables on top ot the platform in a piece of piping! I am not quite sure ...

Hi Vincent, It would also be nice if you could put a vauge location of where you are in your profile. This forum gets people from all of the world so it is nice to know where you are. Also there are differences between the Haflingers from different parts of the world which, can be allowed for if we ...

Re: Runs and mostly stops!
What on earth are the two blue things in the cab? I thought the four wheel drive, front and rear differential lockers were green and yellow? The front diff lock lever looks a little bent from the original shape. If you did want to make the levers green and yellow, Plastidip - liquid plastic make sui...

I'll look into it, dpending on how much time and effort it requires to setup and keep running.

Re: New Haflinger from France
Welcome,
Some pictures would be nice. Sounds like you have a lot of work to do repairing the platforms. There are quite a few suppliers now who are able to provide you with parts for repair both the platform and the drive line.

Re: Fuel tank sender issues
Nigel, Well done for solving the issue. I know how hard it is to sort something out when you have limited knowledge and the thing is rare! Maybe you can open up the two gauges and swap the backgrounds? Usually, the gauges have the ring that holds the glass on "rolled" over and round a pip ...

Re: Fuel tank sender issues
Hi Nigel, Try this link to a trouble shooting page for a two wire fuel gauge system. I am pretty sure that although the wire colours will be different, the connections would work if you get he correct wire going toteh correct place. https://www.boatingmag.com/story/how-to/troubleshoot-your-boats-fue...

Re: Fuel tank sender issues
Some pictures of the offending pieces might help work out if things are original or replacement items. I had issue with my gauge after having had the tank out to fix a leak. When I put things back together, the gauge did what yours is doing, or was it reading empty even when there was fuel(?), I can...

Re: Battery specs
That battery shows as being availabe in Australia, but not specifically in the UK with that name or code. Looking at the specs of the batery, we have a couple manufacturers who list batteries that have similar specs. I don't know what the original battery specs would have been as I haven't read the ...

Re: Jet numbers
Does "Gas" and "Fuel Air mixture" untilise the same "Drill sizes" naming convention? I don't know, but if the hole in a jet is just a straight hole all the way through, then as long as the physical "Gas jet drill" fits the hole, you could then use it to make f...
