i am curious .
i have set up a number of the original governers .
and have not had a problem .

please explain the need to fix a problem that i thought did not exist .

or am i just old fashioned and like mechanical things that work . and can be fixed .

i hope you read my comments regarding the main bearings . fit the bearings in the crankcase , without the crankshaft . scribe small alignment marks on the bearing . then you know they are correctly placed when assembling . also it is best to remove the welch plugs from the crankshaft . so you can to...

sit the bearings in the crankcase and lightly scribe some alignment marks .
then fit to crankshaft , then fit to crankcase .

not being smart . but i only did that once .

memory says toyota 12R pistons
skirt needs shortening , and i think a skim off the outer edge of the crown .
gudgeon is the same .

if you want hi -comp , weld the crown and machine to the same dimensions as original hi - comp pistons .

G,,day , a comment . winches work much better from a cranking / starting battery . they are designed for fast / high discharge . and fast charging . deep cycle batteries are designed for long slow discharge and take a lot longer to charge . this for "normal" lead acid type batteries . kerry

the V twin could most likely rev high enough .
possible that he purchased it without a motor .
from what i can see , a neater conversion than any i have ever seen .
appears to have not lost ground clearance ,
possibly lost a bit of departure angle

G,,day . my comments on the amount of maintainence / repairs etc . we are talking about an old vehicle ,often poorly serviced during its life. the well serviced ones that i had a lot to do with were not difficult or required anything out of the ordinary go and try any other 30 plus year old vehicle ...
