Re: 1969 Haflinger 700AP

Ryan, Congratulations on the acquisition of George's two 1969 trucks. It is noce to know they have found a good home and, better yet, in the Pacific Northwest. At our recent NWMF event, the dicision was made to return to Leavenworth, WA for the 6th annual Haflingertreffen Nordamerika in June 2015. I...

Re: Cross reference for front flexible brake lines?

Toby, We just did a rear hub rebuild last weekend. I chose to order the Hub Seal Kit available from Haflinger Technik. http://www.haflingertechnik.com/html/index.php?zinc=pages/restoration&keywords=Pinzgauer spares You get enough to do all four corners. Hope this helps. Take care. Jim Molloy Wal...

Julian, We have Joel Dotterer (1960 Austrian 700AP slant back) to thank for equiping all the trucks present with the "googly eyes" and I believe he sourced them from Archie McPhee in Seattle, Washington. http://mcphee.com/shop/catalogsearch/result/?q=googly+eyes Having each truck sport a p...

Brandon, Camping locations on the property are wide open. Emilie had done a phenomenal job of mowing around the orchard and the field in front of the house next to the fir lane is also availabletrimmed out some camping areas along the river and the perimeter of the large lower field. Caution must be...

Re: Haflinger Stock Lug Threads?

Brandon, I just chased the threads of a wheel nut with an M10-1.50 and it seemed to go with minimal resistance and not obvious metal shavings. The real test will come whn I thn run that nut onto a wheel stud. the manual list the nut simply as an M10 but there is a hand written disigmnation for an M1...

Re: Haflingertreffen Nordamerika 2014

Hello to all, After careful consideration and seeing the time slip rapidly away, the location for the Haflingertreffen Nordamerika 2014 is going to be shifted a bit inland as well as north this year. The Newport area is beautiful with plenty to see and do but the lodging situation is not very conduc...

John, My apologies for my apparent misinterpretation of your original comment about the each and every Haflinger being a on-off build. Even to this day, any automobile assembly process that involves human contact will never be exactly the same from one time to the next. The spot welding seen in the ...

John, You wrote: "I have a sneaky idea that EACH and EVERY one of the Haflingers made was more or less a one off when it came to fitting external parts to them, like the exhaust system. I am sure, even in the factory, they had to "fettle" things to make them fit." Might I suggest...

Re: Who Can Rebuild and ReJet a Zenith Carby In Sydney or Ne

Garry, With the head already in hand, the very best repair would be to have the head cleaned and the damaged hole TIG welded back to its original solid state. Then have it drilled and retapped using either original M8 hardware or even going up one step using an M8/M10 repair stud in a larger freshly...

Re: Speedometer - how to remove the front bezel & glass?

Julian, Removing the chrome ring is not difficult but does require patience if you plan to re-use the old ring. Fresh replacements are available. I suspect Dale at Haflinger Technik has them and you can see a photo at: http://www.puch500.at/?action=instrumente P/N: inp05 for EUR 14.00 Hope this help...

Re: Low compression

John, I think what may be throwing you off about the valve covers on the Puch500 website is that those covers have had a barbed vent threaded into the flat boss at the top of the cover. One cannot see the actual mating surface for the valve cover oil return tube. The seller is focused in on then ven...

John, It must come as quite a relief knowing that all your concerns were based on information gathered with less than optimal measuring devices. This is an excellent learning point for all of us. Cheap diagnostic tools can lead to very expensive consequences. I understand what you are trying to acco...

Re: Low compression

John, Has Lurch been burning oil/smoking when your drive? If so, the low compresssion can either be the cylinder bore seal(worn rings) or worn valve guides with inadequated valve-to-valve seat seal. If no smoking has been occuring, the likely cause is worn valves not sealing the cylinder in compress...

John, I have seen both a single circuit system alone as well as a single circuit sytem with a vacuum booster(on a 703APK truck). The manual lists two additional sytems: Dual circuit systems without and with vacuum booster. I have never had the good fortune to examine either of the dual circuit syste...
