Re: Data Plate location

Hello Julian I can confirm that on my two 1963 RHD Haflingers, as well as the AU Army Haflingers (1966), the plates were fitted as per your second photo. If I am correct, this is a factory photo of the AU Army Haflinger, before seats being fitted. This also the location of the plate for the 2 other ...

Re: Spam Prevention

I'm happy to help Markus, if you ramp up prevention measures like approving the first posts.

If Markus is off-line, I think Jim may be another moderator who may be able to banish the spammers.

Re: AP vs APT

I don't think they made APT plates, just like they didn't make Haflinger Wage stammkarte blank sheets. Just a guess

Re: AP vs APT

Hi Garry The T is for 'Tropical', meaning it is fitted with the cyclonic air filter up front, as well as the air conditioning ( the two opening flaps). I love these flaps at speed, as they fill the cabin with cooling air very effectively. If you had provision for PTO, yours would be a 700APTL. Cheer...

ex-Australian Army Master Cylinder on ebay

This one is ex-Australian Army stock, assuming the box and label are original to the part: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181247975208?ssPageName=STRK:MEBOFFX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1432.l2649#ht_172wt_1089 The label gives the army part number, and the red-pencil strike-through on the label is characteri...

Re: Haflinger in Frankston (Melbourne)

Michael and Brad Congratulations on your new Haflingers! I look forward to your progress with them, and I would be keen to get the chassis and engine numbers for the Register. Michael, I have a Haflinger of the same vintage also in Sydney if you need any help, ideas etc. I also use a motorcycle cour...

Re: Haflinger in Frankston (Melbourne)

I think this was a good buy- hoping we get to find out who the buyer was for our Register. There was minimal rust, and so as Gary said, there is less work required than with most we come across. I suspect that there was little interest because she was an early 4 speed model, where for reasons of pra...

Re: new Melbourne Australia Member

Nigel

Its interesting that the rear canopy frame on you old Haflinger is the same as on the Haflinger up for sale on ebay at the moment (see photo). Do you know if this was a one-off custom frame, or if these were made to order by some after-market fabricator?

cheers

Re: new Melbourne Australia Member

Hello Nigel and welcome to the forum. Yes I think many of us have seen your Haflinger with the young lady. I hope you find another soon- there is a 63 Haflinger on ebay at the moment from Frankston. Yes a Constantin mentioned the Australian Haflinger club website is down, but not for much longer I e...

Re: Haflinger in Frankston (Melbourne)

well I just checked the chassis number- this 63 Haflinger (APT) is 5355921. My 63 AP is 5355477, ex-Tasmanian Hydro Haflinger (APTL) is 5355750, and the other Haflinger (APTL) of this year I know of is from Guyra in NSW with chassis number 5355856 (stamped 1963)- so very close. Also I was given info...

Re: Haflinger in Frankston (Melbourne)

Great find. I suspect this is from the first shipment to Australia in 1963. I know of two others from this batch, and will compare chassis numbers with the two others.

Re: Haflinger brakes not so bad!

Yes, the annual inspection regime is pretty tough, but does ensure we keep on top of the mechanicals. I chose not to go down the club plate rego path as its far to restrictive for me. But rego works out to be more like $700 with compulsary insurance. My army Haffy is on club plates, but the lower hu...

Haflinger brakes not so bad!

I just took my Pathfinder for its annual roadworthyness certificate (pink slip), part of which includes a brake test. The car needs to travel at least 30km/h at which point the tester slams on the brakes and an instument judges the time to come to a complete stop. In the case of my haffy, she went f...

Re: Who Can Rebuild and ReJet a Zenith Carby In Sydney or Ne

Sorry Garry- hoping the lead was a quick fix for you. At least you know who will do a good job of rebuilding your carby once you get the right jets. Do they still have the Fuel Miser service kits available for the Zenith? I just checked a spare kit and it dosnt contain any jets at all.

Re: Body off restoration starts today!

Thanks Constantin Ive been ordering lots of parts for my Puch scooter projects, many of which are new-old-stock panel parts, often still in their sealed Puch plastic wrapping. These were painted in enamel, around the time of the Series I Haflinger production (although of course there may be no relat...
