Re: Engine tin ware
I may have misread the posts, but my take on this is that the tin goes between the engine bell housing (not gearbox) and the spacer ring - terminology?. Posted another photo below shows placing which looks like the cover is outside the spacer ring (or it simply may not be fitted), not sure if this h...

John,
Machine mart and Halfrauds both stock it, if you use the disposable bottles.
I tend to get mine in larger bottles from Telford group where I also got my Turbo set 200 oxy set from.

Re: Clunk in the Drivetrain
Garry,
Are you still in need of the gears? I've a few spares and can dig them out for a look to see if they are of use.

Re: Be careful out there
Spot welder is the Clarke CSW13T which has the timer unit and does 2+2. the longest arms I have are 42 cm, and I have a one sided spot-welder attachment for the arc welder for the bits I can't reach. I have to try this out and then decide whether drilled hole and Mig is better - anyone got any exper...

Re: Be careful out there
I found that the standard 13 Amp fuse was insufficient for my spot welder so the solution was: - 100_5125.JPG and 100_5126.JPG Now have 30 amp supply from unused cooker circuit from main house consumer unit into a garage RCB box, with 32 and 16 Amp sockets in the garage. Hope to be welding the platf...

Re: Electronic Ignition
I spoke with a company called H&H at the recent Classic Car Show at the NEC (I had a stand there), and not only had they heard of a Haflinger, they has already done an electronic ignition for one.

May be worth dropping them a line if looking for a system.

I have a set of long ones I will cut down to length so I can use the rear doors, unless anyone wants a swap?

Re: Alternators & voltage regulators - NOT Haflinger
An alternator must always be connected when energised and running. If not then the diodes will get a voltage spike that will destroy them and can also damage the regulator. Do not disconnect the battery at all or the earth/live connections when running or when the alternator is energised.

Latest progress is that the two new side stiffeners have been drilled and the holes punched out for the tubes that take the seatbelt mounting hoop and the side panels, the fixing pads for the seatbelt hoop fabricated and welded on. Also at last the old foot well is finally separated from the chassis...

Looks like you have the basis for two!
Deep envy.
If you do break one for spares let me know if the front panel is available?

Re: Payment of MwSt when Buying from EU Countries
My understanding is that if goods are exported the VAT should not be levied, as duty is imposed when received in the destination country. I have run foul of this when I purchased an engine cover from the US, I ended up being charged import duty and VAT on the cover and the shipping, and £8.00 for ha...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
Got back into the garage for a couple of days and made great progress. Started with refitting the metal front and using a hydraulic body repair ram (new toy) I managed to push out the front that had been pushed in before I got the Haffy. Then drilled out 130+ spot welds. This morning I started on th...

Re: another haffy on ebay
Also it has had a lot quite a bit of patching and welding done, and not that neatly either. Wonder what else that nice shiny paint is hiding, looks a bit flaky around the fuel filler hole? Needs a good going over before making any offer or decision, but again it's worth what someone will pay, as has...
