Disaster narrowly averted ...

Armed with a new battery I started the Haflinger in order to warm up the oil prior to replacing the oil filter & putting in some fresh oil. Started well, and I ran it at medium revs for perhaps 4-5 minutes. I was in the cab throughout in case it stalled. After a while I thought that I would just...

Battery specs

Hello again! I have just removed the dust sheets from my SWB Haflinger, showing it the light of day for the first time for 5 years    First task is to replace the battery; what spec do people recommend these days? Am I best going for a lead acid (standard) battery, or a newer techn...

Re: elastic straps

I don't have access to my 1972 civilian LWB canvas at the moment, but some photos I have shows that the loops at the bottom of the rear flap are individual (ie not one long length) - first two photos - and from the outside of the side panels (third photo) the loops look sufficiently regular that I w...

Not enough puff from the Dynastarter

My brother, who is currently looking after our father's Haflinger is saying that the Dynastater is not performing as well as it could / should. It turns when no load - eg without fan belts fitted- but doesn’t have the umph to turn over engine with belts fitted The symptoms are those of a flat batter...

I _think_ you need to play with the three(?) tiny grub screws on the side of the gearbox "turret" jut in front of the NSR wheel. But check with others & the manual before making any changes ...

The "original" wiper switch was a much smaller white toggle - pull to turn on, push to turn off. Not sure what this one is for.

I am embarrassed to admit that I haven't even looked at my Haflinger since June 2017 - let alone use it.

Re: Body colours

Hi, I don't think Haflingers were ever painted grey - I don't recall seeing any in what I might call Fergie grey.

Most are beige (/stone?), green, red, blue (Royal Navy), and variations of olive (drab).

Re: Hemi the Haff.

My UK spec LWB was made in July 1972 and has two fuse boxes. The dash is original.

Looking back through some old emails, I _think_ that dashboards were body coloured until ~1968, and from ~1969 they were black (in non-polycab versions anyway).

Re: Two year project.

Its been nearly two years since this Haflinger came from the depths of South Wales. It started it's hard life in Scotland in 1967. By all accounts , used off road and unregistered most of its life. Well done! My 1962 SWB came from the depths of South Wales too (Richard Walsh), and before that it wa...

Re: Wing Mirrows.

Not cheap, but Haflinger Tecknic were selling "original style but repro" stainless steel arms a while ago. I like mine, but IIRC the centring spring (or the centring detent) wasn't quite as strong as it needed to be.

I have the jack as shown in the line drawing; the top flange is shaped / curved to marry up with the underside of the drive shaft.

I had a _very_ quick look within archive.org , but that exact url doesn't work. But a similar one is this. https://web.archive.org/web/20140806052743/http://bosch-automotive-catalog.com/public/catalog/products?lgRedirect=true&p_p_id=BoschWSRP&p_p_lifecycle=0&p_p_state=normal&p_p_mode...
