Moderating new users

Can I suggest that new users are moderated for either one or two posts? There are some seriously unwanted photos just posted on this site.

I moderate another phpBB forum and all new users have to have their first two posts "released" before they are visible to all users. It does require some work for the mods, but it does work!

I think at the moment it is only Markus who it control of the web site. Obviously moderating all new members posts takes so effort and time. Whilst there are still a small number of members not so much of a problem, but as the site picks up it will only get worse.

Hopefully those two posts will be removed shortly.

Do the Moderators have the authority to remove the offending messages? This may help in the short term.

So you don't like my Landrover and Jaguar pics posted on my introduction post

I promise never to post pics of Landies up again unless asked too. :D

When I modify my Landrover 101 to carry my Haffie in the back can I put a pic of the combined unit ;)

I Couldn't think what pics were meant until I fell off my chair at the 2 nastie posts under 'off topic chat'- off topic alright!

Looks like members 37 to 51 ( as of now) are all dodgy. Can they be removed?

Rick,
You are correct. Those members have all been permanently banned and their posts removed. Markus has changed the settings in the Administrator Control Panel so that all new members must be cleared by him. Obviously, it means a bit more work but should keep the bogus posts at bay...hopefully. I see such tememndous potential for this site and it is frustrating knowing that such good work can be corrupted so easily.
Take care.

If the forum has been setup the same way as others then the red exclamation mark in the bottom right hand corner of the post just above the "quote" button can be used to report a post.

There are different reasons available for reporting a post which you can select.

Ok the captcha spam bot counter fix didn't work so It's been replaced with simple Haflinger q and a which should leave the computers struggling.

Seems to be working now - the more I seemed to report the spam the more they seemed to grow.

Thanks for your efforts.

A few days have passed and it looks like the q&a is a much more robust system for our site. Im happy to see it providing some solutions and help to users.

Appears that some more unwanted members have joined... :(
Markus, can you maybe change the settings in a way that new members have to be confirmed by the moderator?
