White paste between the scuttle/cab and platform

Hi,
When I separated the scuttle/cab from the platform the seam between them (where bolted together) was covered in a white paste. This paste had clearly done a good job as they came apart easily as did the securing bolts. Any idea what it is because I want to make sure I put some back when they are re-mated. Any material that allows such an ease of separation after 42 years get my seal of approval.

The consistency is similar to the yellow paste used between dissimilar metals to stop them corroding due to galvanic process .

Standard automotive seam sealer should do the trick.

It might do but this isn't seam sealer, much softer.

It is known here as body/seam caulking compound. Similar to Bathroom (non silicone type)caulking material. Never dries out(in most cases).

Try Sikaflex 227 or similar, Available form most auto parts store. It is an Adhesive sealant which is flexible.
and twists and bends with body movement. Mose stores only have 227 colour black and is used for sealing windscreens but there is a Sikaflex product I just cannot remember the stock number number. It is about $27.00 here in Australia a tube and once opened you have 3 months to use to.

I brought some 4 years ago to reseal by Landcruiser Troopy and work the same as the factory stuff. It was white and paintable.

I think it may be a world wide product but not sure
