Hi and welcome to the forum - I assume you are Ben and that you are somewhere near Perth in West Aust. Can you put your location in your profile so in later threads when you tell us how your restoration is going people in other countries will know where you are from.

From the pic - it looks like you have a decent project ahead of you ;)

Please keep us up to date and dont be afraid to ask questions and seek help as needed - and as you come more experiences contribute to the knowledge base on the forum.

Welcome

Welcome,

Which bit are you going to start on first? The body or the running gear... or the engine?

Hi Gents
Thanks for the heads up for more WA owners out there.

At the moment I will start with the engine as it was stripped down when I purchased it.
The chap I bought it from kept all parts in the one box so it’s just a matter of going through it all and clean up and assemble.
Also was fortunate when I purchased he had a part and service manual so won’t be completely lost.
I think whoever wrote the service manual needs to be shot though!!
Organising some bits from Haflingertecknic now so get ready for a heap of questions when I get stuck or confused!
Once that is complete will break down chassis and running gear, clean up and reseal.
Then the hard part, have the platform sandblasted and see what’s left and restore.
Hopefully I can get it back to a good running workhorse and have registered again.

The guy I purchased it from said originally it belonged to the Perth Shire council as a small water cart for park and gardens.
He bought it second hand in 78 but was parked up in 84 and unfortunately deteriorated.
On the clock it has about 24000km and about 2500hrs on the clock so I am thinking most things shouldn’t be in to bad a shape. So just a matter of pulling down and inspecting.

Ben

I am compiling an up to date register of all known Hafs in Oz. Would you mind PM'ing me a photo of the ID plate on the body where the driver's seat would go?

Many thanks, and good luck with the resto.

Keep on Haffing

Hi Adam
Just starting to pull mine down as bought in pieces.
Been cleaning up engine parts and painting a few bits at the moment and starting on the front section.
Over the next couple of months I think it will be the steep learning curve.
I am in South Guildford so if you are ever in the neighbourhood let me know.

Here are some pics of what I have on the go at the moment.
Had engine alloy parts aqua blasted and cleaned up and all the other panels I took into work and sand blasted and painted up.
Just a matter of the assembly now!
