The dates are actually the next weekend.
June 20-23 2013.

I spent last weekend at a Snowcat Jamboree in Leavenworth, WA and talked to many local contacts and I am in the process of working a special group rate at Der Ritterhof for lodging and parking. Attendees of the Snowcat Jamoboree stayed their and we were happy with how it worked out. ( I think we had 12 rooms booked) Plenty of parking(for rigs and trailers) and very short walking distance to town center.

Additional Leavenworth video

I will post an update when I hear back from owner of Der Ritterhof

Here is my orignal post at yahoo group with links and stuff:

Hello

The 4th annual Haflingertreffen Nordamerika will be held in the Bavarian village
of Leavenworth, WA. Mark your calendars for June 20-23 2013. For those of you
unfamiliar with Leavenworth, it is as close to authentic Bavaria as you can find
on this continent. All structures in Leavenworth are modeled with a Bavarian
motif and should make for some fantastic backdrops. In addition to all of the
Bavarian shops and eateries, Leavenworth is surrounded by picturesque mountains
with numerous mountain access roads to explore and enjoy the scenery. More
information will follow.

I did some scouting on Memorial Day and posted this video:

Scott,
Thank you for correcting my error on the dates. I went back to the Yahoo Groups site to see if I had made the same error there. Not sure why I made the goof I did. My apologies for any inconvenience my error may have caused.

The Leavenworth promo video is...phenomenal! Will you be hiring the same four as our official Haflingertreffen Nordamerika dancers? I know the Accordion event has a parade. Wonder of they would consider using Haflingers as ATVs (Accodionist Transport Vehicles) for the parade. Perhaps Alpenfolk would be willing to play Haflinger Polka.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help out.

Take care.

I will have to research the dancers and at a minimum get an outfit for my wife. I will talk to the Accordian folks and try to get some type of integration.

I have a block of rooms reserved under "Haflinger Treffen".

From the manager:

"The following is a quote for 3 nights stay for 10 or more rooms Arriving on June 20th and Departing on June 23rd.

Cost:
Standard Queen room with 1 bed: $84.00 per night (3 night min)
Standard Queen room with 2 bed $96.00 per night (3 night min)

*how our a group block works: We will set up a block under the group name for your group. The price will be set at the quoted price if you stay above the min. rooms. When a member of your group calls to make a reservation they just have to give the name of your group and we will make them a reservation using one of the rooms we have blocked for your group. 30 days before the event rooms that have not been used in block with be released.

We also have a restaurant that we can offer discount meal prices and provide a meeting space if needs.

In the summer we have a large BBQ pit that you can have a wonderful group gathering around, if you would like help planning a picnic, please let me know."

Those thinking of attending should book early. the Accordian Festival is going on the same weekend and this location is basically the only place with trailer parking close to town.

I'll be there! Towing the Hafi in a trailer behind my Pinz.
I am checking with my timeshare this weekend to see if they have any vacancy first before booking through the hotel.

Bruce,
My apologies for any confusion I may have caused with the erroneous dates early on. I speak for all when I say you will be missed. The Big Foot Haflingertreffen Nordamerika that you hosted last year was truly spectacular.
Our best to Janet, Dino and all in Willow Creek and Salyer, CA.
Take care.

Hi Jim and all,
We will be there!
Jim- is there any way you can edit your original post to reflect the correct dates? It's the first thing you see when you open this post, and it is confusing. Like Bruce, I had the "original" dates locked, then scrambled when I learned they were the following weekend! :-)

Joel,
I tried to edit my original post but that action did not seem to work so I just deleted my first post. The information that Scott provided is far more important.

By the way, since our favorite Haflinger-savvy law enforcement officer will not be attending, one might think that there will be nothing but reckless abandon in Leavenworth, WA during the treffen. Well...I would be careful.

Again, my apologeis for any confusion my original post caused.

Update

I spoke to the Der Ritterhof Inn and there are a couple rooms left under the Haflinger reservation. Their Inn is fully booked other than those held for our event. The rooms held under our reservation will be released to the general public in a week.

If you don't have a place to stay and plan on attending Call (509) 548-5845 for reservations. Arriving June 20th and Departing on June 23rd.

Went to Leavenworth over the weekend to check how the rest of the winter treated the Der Ritterhof Inn and some of the surrounding forest service roads. Everything looked great.

The Inn is located about 0.2 miles from the core of the Bavarian village . A short drive through town on Haflinger friendly roads takes you to access the many surrounding forest service roads. Some of the roads take you to 5500+' level of the Cascade Range offering stunning views. I have identified many scenic loop routes and am excited to share them.

I can't wait to see everyone and their great trucks.

Send me a pm if you plan on attending.

Scott,
Does any of the planned travel outside Leavenworth proper require an OHV permit? Does WA have any specific "must have" equipment such as a shovel, fire extinguisher, etc. when off pavement?

See you very soon.

Take care.

Jim

No OHV permit required. The travel will be on city streets, county roads, and National Forest Service roads. No special equipment is required but it is good practice to bring items such as you described.

Scott,

Thanks for the info. Makes things simpler to not have to purchase the OHV stickers.

Haflingers surrounded by all those accordionistas. What more could we ask?

Can hardly wait.

See you very soon.

Just a couple notes on the current plan.
Thursday: Many folks I have talked to are arriving at Der Ritterhof Motor Inn Afternoon through evening.
Friday: Trail Ride caravan departing Inn at 9:30am will parade through town and head out to the woods. Pack a lunch and snacks. I am planning on us having our sack lunch at the Sugarloaf Lookout tower. (See if you want a preview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIMCpYfPnSs). I expect to be back at the Inn around 4-5pm. Dinner can be on your own or impromptu group. There is an abundance of restaurants within walking distance of Inn.
Saturday: Less structured Trail Ride followed by option for Leavenworth town experience with accordians. Host dinner at Inn outdoor grill. I will be cooking Bratwurst.
Sunday: Group breakfast at Krystal's next to Inn.

If you have an FRS/GMRS radio bring it.

Since Saturday looks like the better weather day. I am switching the longer trail ride to that day.

Revised plan:
Thursday: Many folks I have talked to are arriving at Der Ritterhof Motor Inn Afternoon through evening.
Friday: Less structured Trail Ride followed by option for Leavenworth town experience with accordions. Dinner can be on your own or impromptu group. There is an abundance of restaurants within walking distance of Inn.
Saturday: Trail Ride caravan departing Inn at 9:30am will parade through town and head out to the woods. Pack a lunch and snacks. Just got back, I stayed in the shadows due to the lack of my truck and the wife getting violently sick Friday night. Anyway I was glad to meet a few fellow hafi owners and did take a few photos from the sugarloaf trail ride. Next year I will make sure any "tune ups" happen way in advance so I am sure to be there in my truck.

Views are nice, but I don't think very much of the roads :D Could have taken the limo instead! Any breakdowns amongst the group whilst driving up the side of the hill or is it high enough to be called a mountain.
There was a film about going up a hill and coming down a mountain if I remember correctly.
