Northwest MogFest 2017

Post by walderse »

Halloween in Mogust!!!

Pumpkins. Costumes. Trick or Treating! And the best light show the Sun and Moon have to offer!

Northwest MogFest 2017 will run August 17th-21st. We will be engaging in many of our past activities along with a special Halloween theme this year. To top it off, we are running an extra day as Monday will bring a total eclipse of the Sun to Waldersee Farm the morning of the 21st.

Jim,

You posted a link to the event in another thread, but thought it was worthy of greater publicity - what an amazing event and a superb video. An ideal event to see through the eyes of a drone!

Hats off to the organisers - and your seemingly never ending generosity in enabling it to happen. We thoroughly enjoyed it last year, and were so sad not to have been there again this year to watch the eclipse!

BRILLIANT FUN 8-) 8-) 8-)

Julian,
Thank you for the kind words. While there is a lot of work that goes on behind (and not-so-behind) the scenes to prep for the annual gathering, we truly enjoy bringing all these interesting people and their interesting vehicles together year after year.

There is a photo on the NWMF FaceBook page showing the sixteen operational Haflingers present for this year's event. Unfortunately, we had three others still up in the barnyard in the process of being restored that could not make the photos shoot. Perhaps next year?

We really had a good time with people dressing in a variety of costumes for our Halloween in Mogust theme this year. So much so that our theme next year is Waldersee Mardi Gras. The dates are August 16th-19th. Expect lots of costumes, a light parade around (and through the off-road "pit", throwing of strings of beads, Cajun/Creole/NOLA-style food and music and SO much more. In New Orleans, their motto for Mardi Gras is "Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler" (Let the Good Times Roll). Seems very fitting for a event based on unique and interesting vehicles.

Know you are most welcome back whenever you choose to join us.
Take care.

Garry,
Thank you! In the video, you may have noticed the LARGE yellow Unimog U500-based expedition camper parked in the front field near the road. That couple is from Australia. This year was one of our best from the standpoint of international "family members". We like to think of NWMF as a large family reunion for both people and vehicles. The list of points of origin is as follows:

Australia
Canada
England
Finland
France
Germany
India
Ireland
Mexico
Portugal
Russia
Spain
South Africa
Sweden
Tunisia

To borrow (and modify) an iconic phrase from history, "The Sun Never Sets on the...NWMF Family"

Take care.

Correct. Just 2017. The number of countries represented from our start in 2000 to the present is certainly higher. The only continent not represented thus far is Antarctica.

Take care.
