Brake Light Switch

Post by SAM »

Hi All

Has anyone got a cross reference for the stock brake light switch attached to the master cylinder?

I seem to remember seeing somewhere it is a pretty standard item.

I am in Australia and would like to get one this week so I can rebuild my brakes next weekend.

Thanks

In a 1962 Parts Manual it shows as 501.1.3606 "Brake Light Switch".

EDITED TO ADD - Sorry, I don't have a cross reference : oops :

The hole in the master cylinder should be a standard size, so any brake light switch of the same physical build should work - they are after all, just a switch which is closed when the pressure overcomes the spring - some springs might be slightly less strong than others, but when you apply stopping pressure to the foot pedal in a Haflinger, I am sure you will exceed any pressure limitations in a brake light switch!

I would think a VW beetle brake light switch from the late '50s to 60s would do.
