Hi Matt - yes those retreads have been around for a while - someone else on here has them.

I contacted the seller in Western Sydney about 18 months ago and they are road legal retreads but they could not guarantee having the same brand of carcass. I have some 13" rims but also having 12" rims with old Semperits and 14" rims with modern M&S radials I really do not need to get tyres for the 13" rims but would like good tyres for the 12" - those Yokohamas look the goods.

Cheers

Well, I just ordered a set of Super Digger IIs from Best Used Tractors in Eugene OR. I was quoted a current price of $350 for 4, shipped to any continental US address, and fulfilled by a Midwest distributor. I expect that they will arrive early next week.

(I ordered a set of 5)

Well I went to ebay and made an offer for a lot of 4 Yokohamas and he/she excepted.. So looks like some supper diggers are coming my way.

I've looked and looked for something like these in Aus but Nothing. I din't want road tires. What more can I say.

(Should be 5 in a set one for spare.)

If any good I will buy a set for each Haffy. May get cheaper in bulk

I guess because of all the interest, the seller has cancelled the listing and has made a new listing with a higher price $595 per tyre (I assume an error in the listing)

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4P-145R12-6P ... fresh=true

Or is it now $595 for 5 tyres - so a bit cheaper - unless I have missed something the listing does not list how many tyres for the price.

The seller said he shorted himself on the freight for my set but honoured it anyway. I guess he hadn't shipped to Australia recently and discovered the actual cost was a bit higher??

btw, I asked for a set of 5 and he put a set with a new price for me to buy straight away.

If I like the set when they arrive.
I will do the same when I buy more, I will order 11 to make up the shortfall.
This gives me 4 tires for each unit that's going on the road plus spares for each.
Leaving me a set on road tires over.

I just hope in a few months he still has them.

Well My tires arrived today. 5 Days from Japan How's That.
Takes AP longer to post a letter from Ballarat South to Ballarat North.

Very pleased. Only time will tell to know how they perform.

So.. mine showed up today, packed 5 in a box. I have never been in the position where I have a box of 5 tires that I can easily pick-up and move on my own!

They look the business, and are so light that I'm not expecting any issues with additional wear. The tread to size ratio on these little things is pretty impressive!

It's gonna be a bit before they are mounted.. Luckily, my tire machine & balancer accept 12 inch rims!

It's faster to use 2 tire irons

I know. I could practically mount them with flat screwdrivers..

No, I will not be buying any more at this stage. Too many bills to pay.
Plus the Corowa NSW, Military Vehicle Do is on in 3 weeks so you never know what's at the swap meet to buy.

I don't know how many more he has but I've book marked his page for future purchases down the track?

Looking at the thickness of the tread, I'm impressed. I'm sure more reports are to follow.

So, how much actual tread depth is there? They look like a good "on road" tyre, but maybe not so good in real muddy conditions when the thread will just get filled up with mud and not clear.

They might be the best compromise thread pattern available, but compromise may not be what you want!

Tread from casing to edge is 12/32 of an inch / 9-10 mm.
The tread from "wear bar" to outer edge is 7/32 of an inch / 4-5 mm.

This was measured un-inflated.

That tread looks as if it would be a nice All Terrain on a larger vehicle tyre so in this size tyre is really at the cross over point from AT to MT. They so have side biters so should be Ok in the mud. They are marketed as Mud and Snow tyres rather than AT/MTs.

They should be Ok for an allround tyre - not as good as the Universal Grips in the mud but better in all other condtions.

Will these Yokohama tyres go on Haffie rims as tubeless or do tubes have to be used.

Ok thanks - so I take it that standard haffie rims are safety rims.

Gary , i just looked at a rim , it is not for tubeless . it is not a safety rim .
from the outside you should be able to see a groove which is the lump / lip that keeps the bead sealed against the rim .

there may have been safety rims , i have not seen one , but they may exist .

cheers

Thanks - I will find out for sure when I go to get the tyres fitted as fitters cannot legally fit tubeless to rims that are not safety rims. I can go either option as my current tubes are only a couple of months old though tubeless makes the tyres easier to repair.

Cheers
