rear passenger wheel

I finally got the Haflinger out of the shed after 3 months of every time I decided to take it out for a test run the heaven would open and it would p**s down. Thats the problem with living in the tropics in rainy season. I havent got a canvas made yet so Im a fair weather driver. The battery was flat, but with an overnight charge it started first time. I put it in reverse gear and it would not move back wards so I tried moving forward, same thing. I jacked the rear wheels up and both wheels were locked,( I had left it parked up with the hand brake off) but after about 10 seconds of moving the drivers side rear wheel back and forward it released it self. I drove it up and down the street a couple of times and on a bit of spare ground next to the house. it ran ok till I started to reverse , so I could put it back in the shed, the passenger side rear wheel (RHD) locked up???. I moved forward about a metre and it freed it self up allowing me to park it up again. any suggestions as to what the problem could be ? binding brake shoes ??

Sounds like the brake lining has detached itself from the brake shoe.

First thing would be to get that side hub off to have a look.

The rubber brake hoses swell up and block up causing brakes to lock on

I tend to agree it is a brake thing - very possibly de lamination of the inside of the runner brake hoses.

However - I did have something similar happen a few years back. Where my wheels were locking - turned out to be stripped hub gears that were locking and causing the hubs to look.

Now it is unlikely to be this but if you have recently changed your hub gears have a look at this cause.

Thanks for the suggestions, I haven't had time to check the problem due to house renovations, but please keep the suggestions coming so when I do get round to it I will have lots of things to check.
