Howdy All,
Time for a quiz, as am all out of assumptions today.
A persistent leaking fuel pump has been rather irksome over the last 2 days.
Have tightened the inlet hose, (outlet is not an issue) and all the screws, but to no avail.
Still dripping from one of the screws on the hard to access side, so will need to remove it.
Was trying to ascertain the model of the pump, and have guessed Weber PM 26 (see pic), but looks a tad different than the rendition in the parts catalogue.
Main difference is that there is an approx. 90deg angle between inlet and outlet tubes, and the outlet tube has a 90deg elbow, so it points to the right.
If anyone has the answer before the fun task of taking it out to then order a kit (hopefully there is one available).
Also spotted the small rubber joint ring for the rhs oil back flow pipe is broken.
Motor runs with no adverse noise, oil loss, etc, although am guessing it will require replacement, and was wondering if anybody would know how important this item is, as cannot locate info on it.
Luckily have a couple of spares.
Cheers,
Richard.
Which fuel pump is that?
Re: Which fuel pump is that?
From the picture in my parts book it is a solex PE 15080
Most likely leaking component is the membrane: section 1/47 Item 10 504.1.08.345.2
Part number for what I take to be a service kit is: Section 1/47 Item 22 504.1.08.350.0
There should be two bolts which hold it to the crank case, one top (12:00 o'clock) and one bottom (6:00 o'clock)

Re: Which fuel pump is that?
I have fitted 12 volt fuel pumps , particularly handy for when you run out .
no need to turn the motor over and over to get fuel to the carby .
it also helps with a quicker start , carby fills straight away ,
on mine turn the key , when pump stops clicking ,I just normally only need to just momentarily wind to start .
hot or cold

Re: Which fuel pump is that?
I tried an electric fuel pump on Lurch and decided I didn't like it and went back to the original pump which is still working correctly after 40+ years.

Re: Which fuel pump is that?
Awesome!
Thanks for that John.
For some reason the original parts catalogue I have only has the PM 26.
Have just spotted the exploded view and kit on the Autoquariat web site, and will order one!
Thanks again.
The electric pump sounds like a good idea Kerry, but will stick with the mechanical one as it may be an easier fix at present.
Cheers,
Richard.

Re: Which fuel pump is that?
For electric pumps 1.5-2.5 PSI(0.103 - 0.172 Bar) Max.
Mount pump close to tank under body and use clear pre filter.

Re: Which fuel pump is that?
I have an electric fuel pump on mine - works great no issues - mounted in the engine bay, easy to get at, switched power is nearby and power can be cut to it if required. Fuel goes from it to the standard glass bowl and then into a clear inline filter so I can see what is going on.
Once more they are cheap cheap cheap and I carry a spare in the tool box.
