Zenith NDIX Carb - Fuel Pressure Fuel Flow

Post by AustHaflinger »

I asked this over on the Real 4x4 Forum as the Haflinger, Pinzgauer and Mog 404 all use the Zenith NDIX Carb and thought with the wider user base I would get an answer - but nothing at all.

So, can someone tell me what fuel pressure and fuel flow the NDIX Carb requires?

Thanks

Gary, I have the following information for you:-
This was gleaned from a European Haflinger section of a forum. Someone else asked about fuel pressure / delivery issues.

"Mechanical fuel pump, Haflinger had at full throttle a pressure of about 0.18 bar".

and then another post,

"I drive the smallest Facet Solid State pump (0.21bar at 76l / h) for 12 years with my big Hafi engine( i.e. more than 643cc) with 32 Zenith carburetor without disturbances and supply problems".

Hopefully this answers your question - Haflinger Zenith Carbs do NOT require high pressure electric fuel pumps!

Hi John - thanks for that information - I had picked up that they ran around 2.5psi but I did not have confirmation. When I bought my haflinger it had an electric fuel pump but it also a different carburettor (a Solex single barrel) which I have changed but I did leave the fuel pump as is.

When trying to sort my charging issues I had ignition on so the fuel pump was running (need to put in an isolation switch) and I noticed a bit of fuel coming from the carb - indicating that carb pressure is pushing past the float valve.

I have spotted a couple of 2-3 PSI pumps on ebay so might try one of them.

Thanks

You could always buy a fuel regulator valve and use the pump you have.....

Yes I thought of that but the cheapest is over double the price of a suitable pump and with a range of 0-140psi, 2.5psi is just a blip on the adjustment scale - good idea though.

Just spotted this link - a good idea with a good pressure range
