Fan Belts and Tappet Clearances

Post by AustHaflinger »

I don't have access to my Haflinger documents at the moment.

Can someone please tell me:

1. Which way the big bolt on the fan pulleys turns - right handed thread or left handed thread.

2. The cold clearance gap for the tappets.

3. Spark plug gap.

Thanks

Hi Gary,

The big nut on thte Dynastart fan is a standard thread. Put a rod in the hole to stop the fan from turning and then Lefty loosey, righty tighty!

Cold clearances onthe tappets is 0.20mm cold for both.

Contact breaker gap 0.4mm

Spark plug gap is ?

A quick look through the handbook did not show a value for the spark plug gap, just a heat value.

Thanks for that John - just gotta do some servicing before a couple of 100km trips. I put new fan belts on a while back and they were nice and tight but over time have loosened off a little and slip a bit on wet weather starts.

Hi Garry
I have just started the change over from my military ignition system to a civilian system.
I will have a choice of different heat range of sparkplugs.
I had a look in the hand book for the point gaps - 0.4mm
It also says plug electrode 0.6 - 0.7mm

Hi Garry,

It was snowing when we landed, and it got down to -7 for a few days, a bit different from the 37c feels like 47c that we missed while we were away.
My son and I drove up to Scotland for the day and we caught up with Dale,Victoria and Ruth at Haflinger Technic, needless to say I came away
with a few things. after that we had rain most days.
