I purchased a new battery today, fitted it to the Haflinger ,sucked fuel through to the filter (without getting a mouth full ) turned the key , after a few turns the engine fired up . yes another big step today.

Re: engine runs
There are various ways of getting petrol from the tank to the engine without getting a mouth full...
Glass jar, some cling film and another short piece of pipe. Petrol pipe into the glass jar, second shorter length of tube into glass jar. Use the cling film to seal round both pipes and the glass jar. Suck on shorter pipe. Watch petrol pour in to glass jar and not your mouth!

Hey Dave,
Congrats on getting the little fella' to fire up! These can be stubborn creatures sometimes, especially with those quirky Zenith carbs.
Cheers,
Steve
