I like the 70s and 80s European motorcross bikes - the KTMs, Maico’s, Husqvarna’s. In 1975 Harry Everts won the 250cc world championships as a member of the Puch factory team.

This picture is a 1983 Puch MX500 and I reckon it looks like it would be fun to ride!

Note the Rotax

Rotax engines are used in a lot of small manufactures bikes - a bit like Villers engines in early 1960's British bikes!

In my younger days I had a number of offroad bikes and followed KTMs, Maico’s, Husqvarna’s and went to many motocross events - at the time didn't hear of the Puch brand. I had a Cooper 250 MX from 1975 which was made in Mexico and was very similar the Maico and the Husqvarna. I did ride a 125cc Husqvarna in 1977 when I owned a Yamaha DT400 and I only just got away with my life in tact - what a mean machine - glad I did not try the 250 or bigger.

One of the main players in setting up this forum and the previous Haflinger Club of Australia website https://haflingerclub.com.au/forum/ was Dr Rick Krassoi from Lane Cove in Sydney who was into all things Puch and had a number of Haflingers and Puch bikes. He had the user name of Rick K on this forum but unfortunately he has not been on the forum since 2017 which is a shame because he was the font of knowledge for all things Puch on the forum.

Cheers
