Gearbox issues (3rd gear popping out and no syncro in 2nd)

Jim, my fear was that it was something like that. Is it even possible to recondition the gearbox without all the special tools, jig etc? I have a SWB in pieces (missing quite a few) that maybe one day i was going to tackle. Perhaps I should experiment with that gearbox to be on the safe side? I assume all the relevant parts up until the gear linkage are the same as the LWB. I will check out your photobucket.Goatwerks wrote:Popping out of gear is a symptom of worn out shaft bearings. BTW, 4 speed transmissions are very similar inside, you just have a different bearing plate and no crawler.
