can any body advise how to check brass synchro rings for wear .I have the gearbox in bits again to repair oil leaks. I didnt replace them on the original rebuild.

Ok just had a major senior moment. I did not take any photos and I cant remember which way the locking pins fit. its the 4/5 gear syncro . they can be fitted 2 ways depending which way you fit them round end vertical or horizontal to the outer edge of the synchro, and which position you place them in the synchro.

Ok panic over, maybe I should learn to read
. I checked the repair manual and it explains which way they fit

There are lots of trans build pic's on my photobucket.
As per manual, use a feeler guage between ring and flange.
