4wd lever installation

Post by Rabbit 16v »

So, in my saga of blowing untold amounts of money on this thing, I needed to fix the 4wd engagement. The shaft was broken off the housing and stuck in 4wd mode. Fine for offroading, not fine for the cv joint I had to replace. Everything was removed from the shaft outward. Everything. So, Dale and Ruth hooked me up with the bits I needed to resolve this. Everything was fine until installation of the lever itself. You can get the bushing into the platform fine, but I dont think there is ANY way you are getting the lever in through that bushing without removing the green plastic sleeve. So, a little heat gun action and it slipped right off. Lubed the bushing and the lever and slide it right through from the bottom. Reinstalled the green sleeve, and good to go!

hopefully this helps someone in the future. I searched here, but didnt find much help.
