Replacement Wiper Blades - Australia

Post by AustHaflinger »

Hi one of my wiper blades has the rubber peeled away. I can get new ones from the usual European sources but I was hoping someone has identified an suitable alternative in Australia? My wipers are standard so just need blades that will fit the flat arms.

Thanks

Hi Gary, try early Landrover one's - You might have to buy the arms as well, but that mean you have access to current parts, rather than struggling to find obsolete items.

Yes you have to change the arms as well as the blades connect differently to the Haflinger ones.

Was hoping one of the Aussie members might have an alternative that will work.

Wiper arm are flat blades and most 1970's, 80's car have wiper blades with pin and hooks, BUT usually come with adapters to fit various types of arm including flat blade ones. Maybe the adapters will fit the Haflinger arms? I know that ould not be original, but at least you would have wipers again.

The other thing you could look at is to replace just the rubber part of the wiper. Either buy complete new wipers and dismantle them or buy a "refill" pack. Most rubber section just slide into the same type of connection on the metal part of wiper blade.

Yes I ended up getting them from Bernard.

Interestingly when I took the old ones off I noticed that they were made by Trico - Made in Australia so if Trico made them they must also fit a number of other cars. I looked at the current Trico catalogue but they now mainly list newer cars.

Anyway I got wipers off Bernie so that should last me forever.

Cheers
