Engine Spash Cover - Pully Area

Post by AustHaflinger »

The engine splash cover under the engine pully area hangs down. It looks as if some rubber had been riveted to it but is not there now. See the attached pic.

Can someone post up a close up pic of this area or describe what is supposed to cover this gap? While it looks as if the splash guard on either side is hanging down a bit - it is actually up level with the rear cross member and fits properly in the rubber.

Thanks

I don't have a photo to hand, but there should be a piece of rubber that fits onto the full width of the rear cross member, and goes on top and under the thin tin piece that is attached to the engine. What seems to have happened with yours is that someone has cut out a recess in the centre of the cross member, and an extra bit of rubber has been riveted to the tin to bridge the gap.

My tin piece, like yours, also hangs down a bit, and it is difficult to make a proper seal at this point.
