Complete and together and totally running would be about right for the price.

If nothing else, it always amazes me how poorly some people make their "offer" with such poor photo(s) and incomplete information. Ho Hum!

Is "running chassis" an Aussie term? ..'cause that doesn't look like it is going to "run" anywhere.
Does he mean "rolling chassis?"

It could be a fun project, or a nightmare of unobtainable parts.

Well, I can make out the two crank case halves, one cylinder head, a cam shaft and cog, the top dynastart fan cover, what might be an oil pump in that pipe of bits on the back!

When he says engine in bits, he means in bits and hidden all over the place....

I think it would turn out to be quite a good spares / donor vehicle as I am sure as already pointed out, there are likely to be various bits missing already.

Reasonable, look at the value in many ways: 1, it is a series 2 with RHD and tropical air intake filter, 2, there are a finite supply of complete vehicles making it a viable candidate for restoration as most of it appears to be there.
In the states it would fetch as much as $6000+
Looks like someone will get an ultra rare RHD chassis and worthwhile project(or spare parts), hopefully at a good price.
I have seen and repaired Haflingers in same or worse condition, it just takes time and a few $$$.

In Aust I think this 'rolling chassis' is only worth $3K at a stretch.

I wonder what will happen to it if no one bid's on it? Scrapped? Offered up for auction again at a later date?

Gary,
You know you need more spares to sit in the shed.... :D

The market determines it value - I am sure it will sell.

I do not have any room at my place for any more parts. I live on a 800 sqm block and only have a small double garage. I think my signature block list the cars and their parts I already have stored - in addition I have my 8x5 box trailer and my camper van - another Haffie would be nice but something else would have to go.

Im with Garry on that one, 3K tops. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $1500 given the extent of work required, lack of engine, not to mention parts that she would consume to get her back in running order. So, for me, its... Ambitious. But cant blame the bloke for trying.

Guys,

I went out and visited and had a look while picking up other stuff. The guy had 5 of them and has 2 units left. Farm Quad bikes took over. They have been kept in a shed and little rust. However With many bits missing I said not to $4K.

If you want a good body yes. If you want a good undercarriage OK as many things have been replaced. But it' little things that are hard to get made me to say no.

His other one also has no engine good body only, no window frame. It has been on fire and all the engine bay black and wiring loom needs replacement and work. He has had a bit of interest from someone in Vic wanting both but not for asking $8 -10K.

The motor stuff I got from him was good but needs complete rebuild.

Did you take any pictures?

Where the other ones he has already parted company with in better condition that the ones he has left, would make sense if some one turned up to buy and was presented with 5 that they would take the best first...

I took no pic's in respect of his privacy.

This is one of them he sold. It had been in a rollover hence the change of colour with the yellow front.
This was sold on Ebay about 4 years ago. I have no numbers for this unit. It was registered in New Sough Wales.
If it ever becomes available I would like to get it. I believe it is owned by A Penhall some where in NSW

The other 2, I have no idear, all I know is they were sold long time ago.

Hi Brad

That Haflinger sold to Andy about 4 years ago is an ex-Australian Army Haflinger, and I would love to get hold of the numbers for the Registry. He also owns an ex-ACT street sweeper bug eye from memory, also via ebay. If you ever get hold of the chassis and engine numbers, I would be very grateful. They are both on the NSW central coast, but lost Andy's phone number years ago.

Didn't sell - relisted at the same price - seller has advised not to contact him with ridiculous offers.

Has been listed I think four times now and no sale - I guess the seller is not getting the message that he is asking too much.

The current listing - 5 days to run http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261506684993 ... 1423.l2649

It will probably sit in the shed for another few years and then be listed again with an "in line with inflation" price tag.... I wonder what he considered ridiculous offers?

It's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Find the right person and it could sell for a huge amount.

Same guy has a Landrover Disco on eBay. He says "I have a sore leg and I'm grumpy... Don't annoy me".

Full marks for honesty!
