Does the welding/brazing on the oil pressure gauge look lumpy? Maybe it's just the way I am looking at it.

i.e is it original or a mod?

It's a modified paper filter cartridge type oil filter as fitted to early engines. Later engines like mine and yours have the spin on filter type.

So originally it would have been just a smooth curved top to that oil filter cover. Some one has drilled two holes in it and either brazed or welded two collars on with threads to take the oil temperature and oil pressure sensors.

That is one way of doing it but it can be done better without modification.

I have this 4 way connector in the oil pressure switch hole - I currently have oil pressure and oil pressure light and later on the spare spot I will put the oil temp connection.

Another way to put Oil pressure and temperature sensors in is via a "sandwich" plate if you have a spin on filter - see my post about fitting those items.
