Australian Army Haflinger of Ebay- Snapped up by whom?

Post by Rick K »

This ex-Australian Army Haflinger was listed on ebay at 9:30pm on the 13th of July, but was taken down an hour later presumably with a knock-out offer. Does any one know where it ended up? It would be great to get the chassis and engine numbes for the Register, as this is the 16th vehicle vehicle of the original 48/50 re-appear.

I saw that listing but didn't think it was ex aust army - aso noticed it went down very quickly.

Is it ex Aust Army? - I know it looks like the back door is Aust Mil but the front looks normal civy. Also while the seller does talk about a military utility vehicle - many Haflinger listing have this referring to its mil heritage - he does not actually clearly say it is ex Aust Mil. In Aust the sellers normally display the Mil Nomenclature Plate in the advertisement.

cheers

It clearly looks like an ex Australian Army Haf.

Guard plates with extra brackets, rear indicators, raised air vent (small version) and you can still see where the tactical signs and the tool holders were mounted.

The sheet metal doors and the locally made rear canopy and frame ( with sheet metal strip at the two sides) were fitted by Casula Wreckers, who were the company that purchased the army fleet and sold them off. I have seen this combo on many ex-Australian Army Haflingers. I agree with Constantin, this is definitely an ex army Haflinger. I'm sure we will see more emerge over time.

Guy's

The rear motor cover is the ex army one and the tow bar is an ex army one.
Had all the tool accessory brackets removed on the front and holes look welded up painted with brown spots.
Even the holes for the TAC plates have been welded up on the front vent flaps.

I believe it is an ex army one. I wonder how much it went for?

Brad, I had wondered if you snapped it up. I'm sure it will resurface again. Congratulation of getting that Army haffy from Wellington via the Central Coast. I'm glad the tip-off worked out for you.

Rick,

Thanks for the tip. It was good timing as AP was downsizing.
Now I will repair the original front I've got from Wellington and place it, when and I restore the unit. Very little rush as well. Came complete but motor needs new rings etc, the usual stuff.

I have placed pic's on my web site. Look under 101823 on the haffy page.
