haflingers and parts for sale, Sydney Australia #4

Post by fpv32 »

I bought this 1962 model Haflinger in 1975 & the reading on the speedo was 26,000 miles, now reads 29,180 miles . In 1980 I custom built this aluminium body & fitted a brand new motor I had imported from Austria. By the late1980s I stopped using it & it has been garaged ever since. About 5 years ago I fitted a full set of new drakes (master cylinder, wheel cylinders & new brake linings) & used silicon brake fluid to prevent rusting of components. For the last 40 years this Haflinger has been the pride of my life but sadly the time has come for me to have to sell this unique vehicle. I have full photographic records of this Haflinger being built including the advertisement from when I first bought it.
These photos taken on 23rd September 2015.

Asking price is $20,000 ono. Ian Ward, Sydney Australia (02)9666 4559 email: [email protected]

I am disappointed that no one was interested in even making me an offer. I now realise it is only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it. The Haflinger is 53 years old & needs a genuine person to love & care for it as much I have & still do. So if you think you are that person start negotiations to own & care for his unique Haflinger.

I have reduced the price to $15,000. Remember this is the only one of its kind in Australia.

If did not already have a Haffie I would have been interested in at least talking about it :).

I guess many local people on here are the same - I don't recall seeing it being advertised anywhere else - like ebay, gumtree even Shannons and when Haffies are advertised in popular places they do seem to sell.

It is a nice vehicle and if advertised more widely probably would sell.

I appreciate the Perisher pic was probably taken many many years ago but any ideas where you managed to get the sunraysia wheels with the fiat/haff stuf pattern?

Good luck with it.

The Perisher shot was late 80s I used it down there for that season. The Sunrasers are 12inch with standard uropeen 4 hole patten. Still have one left with garden tractor Tyre fitted. I also have video of it in the snow driving around that year.

You should put the video up on Youtube to share with the Haffie community.

This forum being International has members from all the continents - but that does vary in proportion to the countries in which the Haflinger was sold.
Vast majority of members are from Europe - fewer from other places and Australia is in the category of "fewer" members, so the people most likely to buy your Haflingers (Australian due to cost of shipping etc) are more likely to already own a Haflinger and as Gary has said, most likely to only be after bits for theirs rather than complete, new to them vehicles.

A more generic advertising medium would result in more enquiries, i.e. a local Australian 4x4 magazine or something similar.

I applaud your advert via this site as first step in your sales campaign as it might have resulted in a sale and that would obviously have been to someone who is interested in these particular vehicles.

I am glad it is not over here (NA) or I would probably buy it ;)
It looks to be in great shape and I love the body you added. Looks quite well done and very useful
Good luck with your sale!

Have been for a ride in this Haffy with Ian, lovely vehicle and starts 1st time, great work done to it, I would also add he has the only complete original tool kit, vehicle jack and even the little original oil bottle. The other haffie has all you would want for a restoration. Ian has a wealth of knowledge on these vehicle as well as parrots.

See Haflingers & parts for sale, Sydney Aust.#5. This was a project I started but never really got into. The motor ran when I bought it years ago, Taking the motor out was as far as I did. The motor turns with crank handle & is not seized /Users/Ianward/Desktop/Hafie $5500.00 ono/IMG_0706.JPG

Just for the record, this one has been sold, apparently to a Victorian buyer.

Keep on Haffing
