I appreciate Haflingers are an appreciating asset and this one does seem to be a good roadgoing example but the the price is a bit over the top. Starting at $40,000AUD, £24,000 or $30,500 USD.

Tell him he is dreaming. I hope he gets it as it means mine has increased 400% in 4 years.

Another one who only has some knowledge! States PTO, bodywork does not support that claim, no pictures of it. Must be nice to own a vehicle that is worth so much!!! I really hope yours has gone up by 400% - means Lurch must be following suit.... lol

"l don't intend to lose money on this vehicle" .....if only that were true for all my previous vehicles! :)

I just sent the seller a message asking about the PTO and what if anything it drives. I have a PTO on mine too but no lever or floor cut out (someone did a gearbox swap in the past).

Now that is a might impressive price.

That guy that's doing the restoration on that other site should be able to get at least a $100k when he sells his truck. :D

The seller said he got the PTO fitted to run a generator but never did.

Interesting - it has been listed 3 times at $40K and it would seem no interest. If it is as good mechanically as he says then I would tidy up the body to match and maybe start quite a lot less than he is asking - maybe an attitude adjustment in the wording of the advert would also help.

Guys

Dreaming, The highest price I've seen for a Haffy in the last 10 years is $25K AUD. And that was for an ex army one not civy. It is obvious the seller has Hi expectation with out the knowledge of the market.

Maybe he got some advice from a "Y gen" as they do things like that.

Brad.

It will keep coming down till one of two things happens:-

Some one decides it is cheap enough for them to afford,
Or
He gives up and keeps it for a while then sells it to a dealer as part exchange on something.

What type of front bumper is fitted, is it a altered /homemade one or is it another type I have not seen before, same with the tubes under the chassis bar on the sides at the front

Just butchered a standard front bumper and welded water pipe on the sides.

When he originally listed he was resolute that that is what he wanted - no discussion or he would keep it. Now he has dropped the price $10000 and has softened his tone:

"Looks like may have to incur some losses on the original build price / costing.
My loss is your gain."

But still has the line:

"If you think the asking cost is too much there is no need to tell me."

Well maybe someone should have.

But then I hope it sells for $30,000 as it will show mine is worth a lot more than I think it is.

He does seem to have lots of spares for it, but I think he'd have a much better chance of selling it if he managed to make it look better.

Maybe it's me, but it looks rough at first glance.

The advert says "Duel fuel tanks as per Army specs." and I see that it has one behind the NS front seat and one in front of the OS rear wheel. I have never seen this layout before ... How are they plumbed in? Do they both feed the fuel filter / carb, or does the front tank feed the rear tank. Are the tanks switchable?

TIA

I am not up on our Army Haffs - I didn't think that they had two tanks. They definitely did not have the later tank on the passenger side under the passenger seat like my Haff . Not sure where the main tank was (in front of the drivers side rear wheel?) Whether there is a second tank elsewhere, I do not know. They did have the JerryCan holder under the passenger side rear footwell like the later versions though.

Maybe a more entertaining way to go around it is to convince him he's letting it go for far too little.

I think he needs to up it to at least 45k.

Now down to $25,000 and no bids - must have been listed nearly 10 times now and no takers.
