Well that slipped through the cracks - Ebay is supposed to advise me if any listing comes up but that one didn't.

Is near me as well.

I see it has a seized subaru engine - not sure why the went that route as a subaru really only revs about the same a Haflinger engine so other than being able to climb hills in a higher gear there would be no oter advantages.

Sold for $3450 - too expensive for me for what is really a full ground up restoration or for parts. Parts for nearly two vehicles though.

Another poor, but apparently original example sold for just on $5400 a few weeks back.

So it would seem that prices for parts vehicles and vehicles for full restoration are rapidly rising - I hope that flows onto road going versions.

Hi Garry

Yes, that figure of $3540 surprises me too. Ive seen others in similar condition but complete with motor go for between $5000 and $6000, so that sale on ebay a couple of weeks ago is about right, I think. However Im convinced that if your into restoring, getting hold of more expensive but good complete rust-free example is more cost-effective in the long run. I think we have discussed ths before on this forum.

Now days Im sure you wont find a good road-worthy registered example under $13,000, and we have seen them go for a lot more than that in recent times.

Ill keep posting them here as I come across them.

Totally agree, I was the first $700 bidder and thought by the time I order parts from Scotland it would be cheaper buying this for bits. But wooo the final price shocked me too. I will just keep on looking for the bits I chasing to complete my haffy. One day they will surface without the whole body to store before scrap.

It's a pitty I'm driving right past their front door next week via Canberra and would have brought them back without making 2 trips.

Hi Brad

What parts are you needing (apart from a whole Army Haflinger)?

cheers

Rick - I agree with you - basket cases cost a fortune to get restored where good goers not requiring a lot of work or that have it all done are cost effective in comparison or rebuilding a basket case.

I was hoping to pick up those spares as it was near me to change over things I need and bring aspects of my current Haflinger back closer to original.

I got up to see if I could get a bid in but I decided not to bother and went back to bed.

Rick,
The parts I'm looking for are:

1 set of headlights complete.
1 set of indicators.
1 set of Tail lights.
The air filter that is attached to the front.
The 2 front front air flaps and all fittings.
The LH side. The same as the one in the first pic of this sibject.
2 set of windscreen rubbers.

A few of the bits I can make like the headlights, I would like to have the origions one.
Same as the tail lights. The 1981 mini moke / Holden 1 Tonner Hella lights are perfect but just not origional.
I also need a template of both seat pads so I can get some made.
I have combed the wreckers for a compatable set of indicators and have found none that match a 100mm hole center and 60/65mm wide. So if origional ones come up just makes life easier.

It's not much but all the hard things.

There no hurry but if they come up for sale I have to jump as I don't know when the next set will appear.
It would of been good the get this Ebay one it had all the bits I needed, just the price was over the top for what I want. (Unless it was ex-army of course)

Thanks

Brad

You can buy just the replacement rubbers for the wipers, that would allow you to keep using the original arms.

John

Doh!

Just re-read the parts requirement, I now think you mean the windscreen surround rubber..(?) That you might be able to get as a extrusion but then you would have to cut the corners your self and glue them together with mastic.

This would be good.

I'm coming through Sydney next Tue and then returning through in 10 days time heading to Corowa.
I also forgot to mention I need a set of windscreen wipers inc the motor and fittings.
I do believe the Mini Moke motor is similar and will do with a bracket mod and is 2 speed in the later mokes. However the through studs from inside to outside are different to anything I've compaired to. Just good to get the orgional.

Thanks

Brad
