Shannon Auction Australia - December

Anyone here own it - looks as if it has just had a spruce up - a shame there are not more pics but I think their estimate is a bit light.

Hey Gary,
That is a nice looking beast, and I bet it brings way more than the amount estimated. Is that a Haffie colour do you think?
I still haven't decided what colour I will paint mine, and I rather like this colour.
Regards Rick.

A 700 with PTO and in that condition (assuming mechanicals are good) should bring a lot more but someone may get lucky!
Pretty sure that color is Birch Green (L511)

Guys,

I'm over that way on the 3rd. I will pop in and have a look.

Just from the pics shows the rear tail gate a bit knocked around and the inside is painted black on floor and dash.

Just looks odd to what I'm use to seeing. The inside floor pan looks like it's just been sprayed over and not cleaned back at all.

Anyway I will look on Sat arvo after I finish at the Aussie Disposal open day at Dandy South.

Guy and Girls.

I went and had a look today and I must say very disappointed. I have attached some pics.
Not disappointed in the vehicle just the price they are asking for a patch up Haffy. Who every buys this will have a lot of work to do.

I hate to be a critic but it's patched to sell.

The paint is HAND PAINTED.
The rust is just covered over with paint and starting blister.
The floor has square panel pop riveted in it.
No original Head light, Tail lights, Indicators, even the headlight protector bars and tex screwed on.
The rear sides are welded and patched together.
I could not get the motor cover open and has the spare wheel bolted to it.
The motor cover has no hinges but pin hole fittings in Pic's
Under the haffy is a pool of oil so I guess the motor leaks oil.
The front window frame has been repaired and welded back together.
The rear seat bay in the body has been replaced with a flat piece of steel plate.
The rear seat cover has been patched and all rust spots just painted over with flat steel welded to support the structure. In Pic.
All the rear sides are bent and have been patched back together. Bent and buckled.
Extra hole under pass seat near fuel filler??? in pic.

It has a brand new canvas tarp over the top and the seats new upholstery are non original to standard design.

With all this I wonder what condition the engine is in when running.
It appears to be steam cleaned and pressure washed and nice and clean. Even though the engine bay has oils all uhder the motor and on protective covers.
This is a standard Shannon clean up before pre-auction prep.

I believe this is a Haffy owned by a local in Cheltenham as stated by the person I spoke to also looking at this auction.

Any way till next time.

Amazing how a photo from a distance can make it look so good!
This one is a project and then some as you need to fix all the patch job fixing that has been done and then get down to fixing it correctly.
Wonder how the Auction house can post "Freshly restored Second Series Haflinger off-roader" - if that is a restoration then I am very scare to see one that has not been 'restored' ;)

The single rear seat and small hatch are correct for a Haflinger with a PTO drive. The fact the hole opens on too "nothing" just means what ever the PTO originally ran is now missing.

Presumably it has a reserve, hopefully everyone who looks at before the auction will also see the faults and bid low as a consequence - unless a bidding war happens!

Well it will be interesting because you cannot have pop riveted panels holding any main structure item for a Road Worthy.
Like in the floor. Lots of work comming up fo the buyer.

Anyway some more pics

Is that any where near their estimate? I can't remember what that was.

Even with the painted over rust, as long as the running gear actually works, I suppose they only really have sort out the pop riveted patches and they have a "useable" Haflinger.
If they have a farm, then I suppose they don't even have to do that!

£9500 is a bit steep for something that is going to need a fair amount of work, but if they are rarely up for sale and the buyer really wants one then that is what happens at auctions! I presume there was something of a bidding war happening.

I agree - seems a lot for what it is. I think that their estimate was $10K-$14K.
