NA Pathfinder central driving mirror (rear view)

Post by cascade.king »

Does anyone know the VW part number or Xref application for the central driving/rear view mirror on a Pathfinder?

Haflinger TDC lists it as a VW part, and the pic shows it (reclined on the glass frame). Any idea what type of mirror?

I've got a welded mounting point on my frame, and would like to find a useful mirror that I won't have to drill to install. It won't pass state inspection without it.

Any help would be appreciated..

Sorry Mike,

I only have a suction cup mirror on Lurch. Hopefully some one else will be along shortly who knows the details and will put them up for you.
Failing that, it can only be some thing that was fitted to either a beetle or a bus as the other vehicles in the VW range at the time (Karman Ghia, fast back, notch back, Trekker) would have probably used the same things out of the parts bin.

My suction cup mirror works Ok except when it falls off - mainly when I am ham fisted in adjusting it.

I have a suction cup based mirror and I have a length of welding wire wrapped round it and hooked over the top of the windscreen to take some of the load which I think causes it to flex and then break the vacuum seal on the cup.

It hasn't fallen off since I did that - Oh bum! Now it will fall off the first time I go over a bump after having said it doesn't fall off!! :o  Murphy's law and all that.

Mission accomplished.
Actually is an easy part to get as a reproduction.

The mirror and base (they are separate parts) came from AirHead Parts in Ventura CA, and work great.
