Re: Suspension limiting straps

looks good, but why did you have to use a spring compressor? I've never needed one, the springs pretty much fall out if the lower shock bolt is out and limit strap is off.

Re: Low compression

Cylinders are sealed at base with Permatex aviation sealant.
I agree with possible impact to head as ring failure seldom causes this degree of damage.
You may have to trim just a little more from the outer diameter of the top.

Use compressed air to blow out most of the dust and dregs.

Re: Low compression

I would run the ring gaps on the looser side, monitor head temps and then try larger main jets (#120)and compare readings.
Larger bore needs more cooling(fuel is part of the equation)at higher rpm's.

Re: Low compression

A few suggestions: with feeler gauges, measure ring end gaps in bores top ring .005" per 1" bore, 2nd ring .0035" per 1" bore, Oil rings, min gap in bore is .020" . You do not file oil rings. Going back to stock is not an option as the case is machined to accept the larger c...

Normal operation. Try changing the switch before over thinking.
The only way the pressure would fall rapidly after shut down is worn bearings................................

Re: Oil Pump/Filter Pressure Relief Valve

Auto shop 101,in simple terms, it prevents lube drain back keeping the oil filter(primed) full for the most part ;)

Side note: Not all Haflinger engines have the oil pressure switch in the same location, some are located on the case (top)in front of the left side tin work.

Re: Oil Pump/Filter Pressure Relief Valve

If the filter plugs or restricts, the filter bypass valve prevents oil starvation to lubrication circuits.

You must first install the brass fitting for the pipe before fitting the pipe.

Re: Drive shaft to UJ oil seal

What you need is a good bottle of anti freeze before going into repair mode
Might I suggest a wee nip of Green Spot or John L Sullivan
I feel ya, it's only 79(f) outside today(too warm for anti freeze)!

Re: Zenith Carby Gasket

I would suspect a coil breakdown before Pertronix module. Test your coil(must measure above 3 ohms if using Pertonix module ), if it is failing, try a Bosch blue VW Beetle coil (these work well and measure at 3.7-4.0 Ohms) usually around $39-$60(USD). Side note: I had to change my original Lucas coi...

You can fill and manually flush the entire system(Dot 3) with at most 2/3 Liter( pressure bleeder will only use around 1.25pt). My Pinz pressure bleeder works on metal and plastic large cap Haflinger brake reservoirs making the job very easy. Most important step if replacing master cyl is to bench b...

What you want is MBZ# 1800710681 Unimog 404 carb insulating flange(4mm) it replaces the bakelight and gasket combo originally used.
Keeps the fuel in bowl from boiling on warm days.
