Re: Zenith Carby Gasket

i have never seen a copper ring .

there is the groove in the cylinder which helps the seal .

Re: Zenith Carby Gasket

personally i would not even bother to try it in place
my best effort in removing a motor was 30 minutes .
a flange coupling on the exhaust helps
also the Austrian towbar with QD pins .

Re: Brake Fluid

G,,day , the other problem with silicon / synthetic brake fluid is the fact it is not hygroscopic . so any moisture / water that gets in does not distribute evenly . because of this a bit of water can boil and create havoc !!!!!!!!!!!!! in normal fluid , water just lowers the boiling point , instead...

Re: Zenith Carby Gasket

G,,day Garry i just had a look , the fibre heat spacer is about 4 mm , i didnt measure it , with a paper gasket on both sides . that fits with other comments . you could also try some good fibre washers under the metal washers when you fit the carby the type of fuel hose can have an affect also . if...

Re: Front drive joint lubrication

the only thing i would ad
a good strap wrench maybe preferable , so you dont damage the screw on cover .
or a worm drive hose clamp around it and tap it undone .
kerry

ps , i read it quickly , and when you know how it is easy to miss things that are obvious

Re: Another OIL thread! No, it's not what you think!

G,,day

from memory
earth straps , a pair of flat braided ones . the ends are hard soldered or brazed and a hole drilled through
one on top of the other , unsheathed .
and they fit through a slot in the air shroud .

Re: Another OIL thread! No, it's not what you think!

Morning all, Where exactly in the dynastarter should the earth strap go to? The same point as for the existing small earth? memory , it bolts on with a 6 or 7 mm hex head bolt , but it also has a slot for a screwdriver . it is a threaded hole in the main body , with a slight machined recess around ...

Re: Hub gears and wheel bearings

i would ad a small rare earth magnet .
also flush with kerosene , or diesel .
but preferably on jack stands and idle over to mix it up .
but after you install the magnet .

Gary .
i would leave it dry so it does not attract dust dirt and worn brake shoe material .
i might be right or wrong , just a comment and personal opinion
