drill tap and fit a grease nipple to the backing plate where the handbrake shaft goes through
it helps a lot , just a tiny bit of grease stops the shaft binding

yes . fairly well anything that will seal the gaps
as long as it is ok with oil .

possible that the new seal is already old and not soft enough to seal correctly

i have had good success with speedy sleeves . but they do need a sealant internally .

if my memory is right , they all came in in CKD form . (complete knock down )

1967 - 1971 , 350 units
1972 - 1976 , 250 units
