Re: Rear Diff Lock

if my memory is ok , the ball joints just pop off .
put a screw driver under and lever , spray with something first .

at least being normal R/H threads means you can use normal taps and dies to repair threads .
and buy nuts to lock the joint .

cheers ,

Re: Fording depth

Gary , totally agree . some very valid points I did not mention .

I must ad . it is surprising how waterproof petrol motors can be .
but they are not a bloody submarine , even if some people do treat them like one .

Re: Fording depth

while I do not guarantee this will work for you , I have driven through water deep enough to get a wet bum .
at the correct speed you get a "bubble" form at the rear , like some beetles swimming in water .
all I did was a very good spray of WD40 or similar to electrics .

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?

helicoiling or threaded plugs , or oversize drain plug can be done in place . lots of grease on the drill and the tap . drill at very slow speed , clean swarf often . flush with kerosene , a couple of oil changes to be safe , just a suggestion . Kerry ps ; I would go with an oversize insert with a s...

set a torque wrench about 5% lower than the required torque . when its reached , tighten to the next slot , very bloody close to spot on torque . or if a good judge of torque forget the torque wrench . I probably don't need to say , add a bit of nickel or copper antisieze to make life a lot easier t...

Re: Front drivers seat right hand drive

the rear seats have no brackets on the tubular frame .
they bolt in with 4 x 6mm x 1 mm pitch bolts through the tubular frame .
the frame rests in a channel section on the seat hole lid .
they are totally different to front seats ,

Re: Castle nut sizes

G,,day . I am not saying that original equipment is wrong . I was stating , do not replace castleated nuts with nyloc nuts . the normal nyloc nuts you can buy are mild steel and are not suitable to go on original tie rod ball joints . also if the OP means also the main arm on the bottom of the steer...

Re: Castle nut sizes

G,,day . I must disagree with the use of nyloc nuts for any important component . they are not high tensile . and are not a positive lock . from an engineering aspect they should definitely not be used on steering components . from an inspection aspect , road worthy or motorsport . fail in a big way...

Re: Front drivers seat right hand drive

G,,day . the drivers side for your model had a flat plate with two elongated slots for adjustment . if that does not make sense , imagine the hinge welded , but with elongated holes . as far as I know none came standard with two folding front seats . I fitted a folding to the drivers side , because ...

G,,day . two types of throwout race .
carbon type and ball race .
some early ball races where prone to failure with some nasty results to every thing in proximity .

solid carbon type give basically no trouble .
