How many have survived?

Hi all, Just talking about the rarity of our little Haffys prompted a question... Does anyone know how many Haffys have survived in different areas of the world and is there a database anywhere of individual vehicle information? I heard that around 17k were built, but just interested to see what inf...

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

Hi John, I did read your post and wondered if I could do something similar. I have the other bits of pipe but they are npt in great shape... I wondered about the viability of making up a jig or two and remaking that part of the manifold from scratch. I'm sure you know what its like when you get a ne...

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

Hi John, Tough decision indeed... Full resto would be nice and I love to see things done correctly and back to factory if at all possible, but I bought this Haffy to enjoy... I don't think I would be pushing to its limit, but I will enjoy being in the mud and having some fun with the kids in it.. I ...

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

I made the stand up for working at a VW engine, and then made a few brackets up for the Haffy engine.. It make it very easy to work at, as I can turn it to whatever angle to work at it, and it is sturdy enough that I could run the engine on it..

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

Cheers all for the great welcome... My Haffy was originally from SW England where it seems to have spent most its time from new until late 70's - early 80's.. The last time it was taxed was 1978, and I gather that it was used in a factory from then on in N. Ireland, until the previous owner bought i...

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

Hi John, Thanks for your good wishes.. As for the resto, a full back-to-new condition sounds soo nice, but I would be happy to get it mechanically sound, MOT, tax and insurance and have a bit of fun.. I am lucky enough to have some ground, so I have places already in mind.. I bet you have some great...

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

Hi Dave, Thanks for the kind welcome to the forum.. I have been waiting for my activation to come through before I could post, but all sorted now.. The trailer is great and belongs to my nephew who is the boss of the company that makes them, so that is handy when I need anything transported... Cheers.

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

Hi Julian B, Good thinking about the extra wires.. When I get around to mine, I'll def bear that in mind. Did you use the factory colour codes or something else? Also, are there suppliers in the uk for colour-coded automotive wire? Sorry for all of the questions, but I am at the stage where I am soa...

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

Hi Danny, Its a good thing that I hadn't zoomed in too much.. The Load Floor and Cab Floor has suffered quite a bit from tin worm and really needs fresh metal although it is still quite strong.. The rear seats and lids and boxes are rotted out also but I know that they are available... It doesn't ru...

Re: Newbie from N. Ireland

Hi Julian B, Thanks for the welcome and interesting indeed about the roof.. Any I seen tended to be either canvas or polycab, but not a mix of the two.. One thought though is that my Haffy originated from south west England, so I wonder was it a "special option" at that time around GB.. On...

Newbie from N. Ireland

Hi all, First of all, great forum.. I just wanted to check in and say hello to all.. I am relatively new to Haflingers although when I was very young, we had an early SWB and a spare but my father sold it on.. (I would like to find it again).. Anyway, I found another one close by and made the deal.....
